They can actually be reasonably safe pets. I used to see one being walked on the streets of Vienna on a leash back in the 1970s. But I imagine they would need to be raised that way. Modern zoos try to keep the animals wild, socialized with each other rather than humans, and behaving as closely as possible to how they would behave in nature. And frankly, if they'd been normally trained guard dogs, the reaction they had to this obviously unauthorized intruder would have been expected. If a stupid unarmed intruder broke into a family home equipped with a pair of Great Danes, the intruder might well end up dead if the dog owners weren't home or didn't choose to call the dogs off.

They've been known to do that.

An animal lover was mauled to death by cheetahs after entering their cage at a zoo in northern Belgium, authorities and zoo officials said Monday.

Karen Aerts, 37, of Antwerp, was found dead in the cage, Olmense Zoo spokesman Jan Libot said. Police said they ruled out any fowl play.

After further vervolmakingscursussen and worked she lived a year in London. There she worked on the children's book department

With her verve for cursin' and cussin' it's surprising she got to work with children...

" Police said they ruled out any foul play."

Well, you can't blame this one on the chickens, then. Poor cheetahs. They never win.

Nature lovers -- the other white meat.

Crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy in the center.
