I looked like the predicted snow storm was going to amount to naught more than a fizzle all day, but 2" just came down in 30 minutes here in Schaumburg.

At that rate, you'll have four feet by 9 a.m. tomorrow.
Stay safe and stay warm.
I hope my doofus state of Pennsylvania is prepared for this one.

We're getting freezing rain and sleet here in Lake County, IN. About 1/2 inch so far. Started about 2 hours ago.

I just checked outside. It is much more like a heavy dump of frozen rain than snow.
This band seems to have passed for now.

My former mother in law was an expert deer hunter, but with her car. She'd call my BIL, a bigtime hunter, who always claimed the carcass. I probably ate as much venison as beef when i lived nearby.

Advisory for your neck of the woods:
... Freezing Rain Advisory in effect from 4 am to 3 PM EST
Sunday...
The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a Freezing
Rain Advisory... which is in effect from 4 am to 3 PM EST Sunday.
The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.
One to two tenths of ice coating is expected on Sunday morning and
afternoon. Precipitation may begin before daybreak as snow with
some light accumulation possible... but warming temperatures above
the surface will change the precipitation to sleet and freezing
rain as the morning progresses.
This wintry precipitation is associated with a strong low
pressure system that will develop over the Midwest.
A Freezing Rain Advisory means that periods of freezing rain or
freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving.
The National Weather Service also advises that residents and
emergency managers monitor the development of this system via NOAA
Weather Radio... the Weather Service internet pages... or other
local news media.

...Further north near Interstate 80... 3 to 5 inches of snow of will fall during the late morning and afternoon hours... topped by a layer of sleet and perhaps a thin layer of freezing rain Sunday evening as the precipitation lightens up.
There still is a lower probability that the bulk of the precipitation could fall as mainly snow. In this case... snow accumulations would be higher between Route 22 and Interstate 80...in the 5 to 9 inch range before any changeover to lighter sleet or freezing rain occurs late Sunday and Sunday night...
guess i shouldn'ta put the snowblower back in the shed quite yet .. :-(

Its picking up again.
Its a frozen precipitation, but not snow right now. It is coming down to fast for snow, so it must have more mass.

I finally hit a deer last October. He bounded across 3 lanes and stopped right in front of me, night time of course.
There was no way around him because I was boxed in by the car on my left. Even with that hit, he was able to get off into the woods enough where he died during the night I am sure.
