Legally changed name means Julia is legally a non-entity. Judgement was for her, not Julio.
I'm going out on the limb...but I'm guessing that when the marriage ended...the wife had a lesbian lover. This lover has convinced the ex-wife that she should be a male...and this operation will fix everything up. Not to suggest that the ex-wife is dim...but its a pretty sure bet that she is fairly naive and believes whatever the lesbian lover is telling her.
