When exactly does campaigning to maintain a GOP senate majority qualify as untrustworthy? I wonder if (gasp!) Ronald Reagan supported some liberal North East Republicans in order to keep the Senate in the 80s.

How does this correlated into Thompson being a RINO?
It has zero impact on his conservative voting record in the Senate.
I don't like the fact that he campaigned for Chaffee. But so did practically the entire GOP establishment, and they're a lot more liberal than Thompson.

Also I thought that we hated Senators as Presidential Candidates Thompson isn't your typical Senator though. He served one term and returned to the private sector. He's not out there bloviating that he's entitled to the Presidency. That's why people like him.
