Did you DRINK it? sounds like a drink to me.
Sorry, haven’t heard anything. I had to run a couple of errands for my Mom, but while driving, I got to hear Hannity go absolutely ballistic on Harry Reid. If they ever do a Best of Sean, this will definitely be on it, because it was great...
Ohhhhhh, YELLOW corn grits..sheesh!
I can imagine Rahm Emmanuel off to the sides trying to get everyone's attention with that hand across the throat cut-off sign...
Oh! There IS a dif ya know!lol
So was I. I switched to History and doubled my credit number in just 3 semesters, making the Dean's List all three times. I think I'm sitting at just over 100 credits, but I haven't been able to afford and go back and finish, plus the foreign language requirement was killing me in other classes because I can speak the Queen's English with perfect diction, but French and Spanish were both out of my grasp, and still are.
There has to be a willingness to learn something different, and neither appealed to me. I started out in German, but the teacher had graduated with her PhD from Tulane in 1937, and was still trying to mumble through the fact she was senile in 1989! I wanted to learn Russian, and it was offered in the school catalog, but they never offered it, because nobody in the foreign language faculty spoke Russian!
I spent two years on the Freshman Orientation Staff, and it was fun. The weekend roadtrip and kegger to join the team was a blast, you got to meet beautiful young ladies, and everytime we had an Orientation, after the kiddies were put to bed, we'd all gather around a table with many, many cans of beer, and gossip about what was going on on campus.
You'd be surprised how much these little beer drinking sessions taught me about who was on the in's or out's with the administration, plus a few tricks that carried me as far as I did.
I was accepted for a third year, but quit during the initial part because a new Dean and the man currently married to the Governor of this state, two men I still despise, tried to take over and turned everything into a PC, touchy feely thing that nearly started a war between black and white counselors who'd been good friends for years. This was right after the Rodney King riots in LA, but the staff managed to stick together until they tried to "cure" everybody of any racism. I'll tolerate a lot of things. You have to if you're a soldier. The breaking point is when they're trying to politically indoctrinate into me the absolue opposite of who I am.
Tell your son, it's a great way to meet new friends, lots of girls, if you get in with the right circle(there are more than one on any staff, and they're all fun), which is easy, orientation sessions are a weekend party, plus, you get access to a lot of things that are out of bounds for regular students. I used to be able to walk into a few Dean's offices and not only get in to see them, but call them by first name. They all knew me. It's handy to have a Dean in your pocket(actually, I figured that trick out in high school when I, believe it or not, got on a firstname basis with the school counselor and the principal).
Those are the potential rewards, but as you read above, a radically PC environment may be more than he'd want to tolerate. I couldn't without going postal on some poor staffer or freshman.
checking out and hitting the road for home.
I should be back on line by 10:00
Stay safe,my friend.
Love ya, babes!
Katie might have something to say about that.:)
Sounds like you & my boy have much in common.
Well sweet girl, take care and know that we think of you and miss you when you’re not here. (I’m not talking to you Bit, I’m talking to Nita) HA. Oh, Roomey fixed me the best martini tonight, just passed the cork over the gin, floated lots of shavings over the clear liquid, placed a queen sized olive in the glass. Oh, I needed that. I fixed a sockeye salmon filet spread with a greek seasoning and over that french herbs, served with a small baked potato, whole cooked tomatoes with slivers of sweet onions and a lucious salad. No dessert.
Who, Biden? Nah, would he tell an untruth? LOL
Grits are white and polenta is a larger, yellow corn meal kernal. Corn meal mush is a smaller kernal. Oh to eat a good dish of grits. Water, lots of butter a bit of salt, a bit more pepper and let it sizzle and bubble for about 30 minutes.
