ATWATER A former Save Mart produce manager is suing the city and a developer hoping to derail plans for a proposed SuperTarget that will include a grocery store. Steve Hernandez, a 53-year-old Atwater resident, said he was contacted by Bay Area attorneys who said they needed a local resident to use for the lawsuit, which was filed Monday.
"I'm just like the middle man," said the grocery worker of 32 years. "I don't even know who they are, but they talked me into doing it."

All that is missing is Clarence Darrow and William Jennings Bryant
Yes. It would be just great for the environment if instead of allowing people to do all of their shopping at one place they are forced to drive to 10 different stores.
Do tort lawyers ever think anything but the next shakedown?
If this yutz can be talked into filing a lawsuit against people who’ve done nothing to him, Just imagined what else he can be talked into.
So after Super Target wins can they sue him personally for liability and legal fees?
William Jennings Bryan.......
What do you know?
Target??
and not WalMart!
sorry,
They should. This nut is suing them for no reason at all. I hope they sue and they win.
You can have spell-check duty now. I go off at 1600.........
I’m sure Safeway Stores had nothing to do with this.
It is only 1030 CDT right, so I can’t be on duty
Yo, Steve! They're commies and you're their dupe. Got it?
AH, WHats a Save Mart or a SuperTarget?
(long time Alaskan here)
Are they some kind of ‘big box’ store?
I notice the mods cut out Crime/Corruption; Front Page News; News/Current Events; US: California from the topics and dumpted it into chat.
The deposition of this guy is going to be really fun. I’d be willing to do it. Put him under oath, and slowly grill him for a couple of days.
Super Target is a big box store (competes with, but slightly more upscale and slightly more expensive than WalMart) that has a complete line of groceries. The regular Target stores are the same, but without the fresh groceries. Save Mart is apparently a local Calif grocery store (I haven’t heard of them, either.)
IIRC, Save Mart is completely unionized.
OK, Thanks! I was amused when I discovered Piggly-Wiggly.
I had seen Target stores on my travels Outside, but nothing Super...
When Outside, I tend to try and find IMPORTANT places, like In and Out Burger, Sonic, WhataBurger, Olive Garden........oh, and a good fern bar.
(Laughs madly and scampers back in to the dark)
