Lowe's Motor Speedway
No Lady in Black, this track.
Race promoter/car dealer Burton Smith and driver Curtis Turner formed a partnership to build a 1.5-mile oval north of Charlotte in 1959.
On June 19, 1960, the first World 600 was run at the new facility. A year later, like many superspeedways of the era, the track fell into Chapter 11 reorganization from which it eventually emerged despite lagging ticket sales.
Smith left in 1962 to pursue other business interests but returned in 1975 as majority stockholder and regained control of the day-to-day operations, hiring Humpy Wheeler as general manager.
Lowe's Motor Speedway has the distinction of being the first sports facility in America to offer year-round condominiums overlooking the speedway in 1984.
Track Facts
Banking/Turns: 24 degrees

First?
Yup! I almost forgot I had the thread this week. :-)
2cnd!!!!
Turd!
I get to see the #44 car again!
Briefly, I'm sure.
Before he slides out the back door of the camera viewing angle. Wide angle lens, too, probably. :)
Smoke, to win.
NASCAR is apparently determined to get rid of me. Maybe they should run all their races on Speed. That should “encourage” more people demand that their cable providers charge another $10 for one more channel.
Even though it's NOT a points race, you can be sure this guy will be running for the $$$ and Glory! Hey, he's gonna have a kid to support and get through school! Do ya think his daughter will be pampered and have her daddy wrapped around her little finger in a few months?
Daddy....can I have the Car tonight????
I saved a few bucks and rearranged our satellite package and don’t get Speed or FoxNewsChannel.. I wish they would run all of it on ESPN
I like NASCAR but their all star weekend just does not even begin to compare to the other sports all star games. As far as I’m concerned its an off week.
Just what do you expect from a sport that starts off the season with their superbowl??
How much potting soil could my First Wife buy with a Million Dollars and how long would it take me to unload it...
At about $10 a bag:
100,000 bags at a minute each to unload continuosly: 70 days
I hope I don’t win...
We have been going to Lowes for the Fall race for a few years and it is an awesome place!
Probably won’t get to watch since we will be racing our own dirt late model SAt. Night. But I will have the sirius channel 128 on in the truck!
