My sister moved to Fla. a few years ago and everytime I talk to her she comments on how many murders go on there daily.I don’t know if it’s Florida’s major pass time or just the heat ???

It's not the heat, it's the stupidity.

Don’t you mean a Full House ? A Yahtzee could be construed as two-of-a-kind plus three-of-a-kind, but I don’t see how it could be construed as a Large Straight, which is one thru five or two thru six.

Yahtzee is a family tradition in my house. One time there was a dispute over whether you can fill in 40 for ‘large straight’ if you roll a ‘Yahtzee’ after you’ve already crossed off ‘Yahtzee’ and you have the top filled in. (You can.) It never evolved into a knife fight, however.

The Joker rule allows 5-of-a-kind to be scored in any section of the bottom provided that both Yahtzee and the top-section square corresponding to the rolled number have both filled in. I thought the Joker option only applied when Yahtzee was filled in with 50, though--not when it's defaulted with zero.

I rather liked a Macintosh version which would allow 5-of-a-kind to be filled in any top-section square if the one corresponding to the roll was already filled (e.g. if I've filled in fives for 15, and then later roll 5 fives, then if I haven't scored aces (1's) yet I could score the roll there for 25 points. A very nice ability. The option was available whether or not Yahtzee was filled in, and could create some interesting strategic twists.

Ha! That's exactly what our dispute was!

Rules of Yahtzee

You can also use subsequent Yahtzee's as jokers in the lower scores section, provided the following criteria have been satisfied:

1. You have scored a zero or 50 in the Yahtzee category.
2. You have filled the corresponding category in the upper scores section.

If this is the case, you can use the Yahtzee as a joker to fill in any lower scores category. You score the category as normal. Thus for the Small Straight, Large Straight, and Full House categories, you would score 30, 40, and 25 points respectively. For the 3 of a Kind, 4 of a Kind, and Chance categories, you would score the total of the die face.

You want a country song? Hmm...OK, here's a country song.

I lifted ol' Blue up inter the truck
An' I turned that radio on
An' I drove to her trailer jist to try my luck
An' I parked it right up on her lawn

Nekkid Yahtzee, roll them dice
Pour a little Everclear over some ice
Don't you tell me that the game ain't nice
Jest shut up and roll
It's country soul
Now don't make me tell you twice

Well ol Blue was a howlin' and the Smokey slowed
And the trooper walked up and he said
"Son, you cain't toss beer cans on the side of the road,
"Yer supposed to hit the truck bed."

"Well, I cain't do that," I sez to the man
"There's a hound dawg a-ridin' back thar,
"And there's nuthin' but chaw in one o' them cans
"And they all look the same from up hyar."

Nekkid Yahtzee, roll them dice
Pour a little Everclear over some ice
Don't you tell me that the game ain't nice
Jest shut up and roll
It's country soul
Now don't make me tell you twice

Well I wuz nekkid right thar but I plumb fergot
And I stood up to speak my mind,
I sez "Thanks a lot, these dice is hot
"And I'm comin' from behind."

"I'm wearin' skin, but I'm about to win,
"I only need one pair!"
And the trooper grinned and gave the cuffs a spin,
"Son, I guess you got a point there."

Nekkid Yahtzee, roll them dice
Pour a little Everclear over some ice
Don't you tell me that the game ain't nice
Jest shut up and roll
It's country soul
Now don't make me tell you twice

Well the judge heard my story and the bailiff took my cash
And they gave me this nice orange vest
Thirty days on the highway jest a pickin' up trash
And I only got one request

If you see Linda Lou all dressed in black
And the wind whippin' through her hair
Jest keep on drivin' and don't look back
She'll throw the dice down and you'll be the clown
You'll see your name writ all over town
And oh, the word will git around,
"That Billy, he don't got a pair."

Nekkid Yahtzee, roll them dice
Pour a little Everclear over some ice
Don't you tell me that the game ain't nice
Jest shut up and roll
It's country soul
Now don't make me tell you twice.

Yee. Hah. :-)

For years, my wife and I in the late 70s , kept a little newspaper account on our bulletin board, which told the story of a killing of one brother by another over a pork chop that one took from the other’s plate, after he ate his own. Another pathetic Darwin Award entry. The last line was, from the mouth of the brother who pulled the trigger “I really wanted that pork chop”.

Lesson learned, never play Yahtzee if your opponent is known by 3 names. At least is middle name is not Wayne.

"WELL, I WAS DRUNK THE DAY MY MOM GOT OUT OF PRISON
AND I WENT TO PICK HER UP IN THE RAIN
BUT BEFORE I COULD GET TO THE STATION IN MY PICKUP TRUCK
SHE GOT RUNNED OVER BY A DAMNED OLD TRAIN

Great song, thanks for the memories.:)
