EL DORADO, Ark. (AP) - A man irritated by children throwing rocks at his house shot and killed a 9-year-old boy, police said Tuesday. Officers were called shortly Monday afternoon and found Demotric Moore with a gunshot wound to the neck. The boy was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Officers saw Jonathan Watts, 50, inside his home, ordered him to the ground and arrested him.
"I've had it with these kids and the rock throwing," Watts said as he was being handcuffed, El Dorado police Capt. David Smith said.
Watts told officers that he'd thrown the gun away. Initial calls reported a man with a BB gun, Smith said.
The weapon was a shotgun, according to a police report.
Smith said police had been called to Watts' home on a number of occasions.
"Apparently, rock throwing had been an ongoing problem," Smith said. "Even on one occasion Watts had thrown a brick at a small child ... in retaliation for a child throwing rocks."

What a psycho. What I’m curious about, though is “Demotric”. It doesn’t even resemble a misspelling of something that could be considered a first name. It’s as though parents have reached the point of cutting a hole in a Scrabble bag and naming their child the first eight letters that fall out.
The cops should have been called first, obviously. But what are kids doing throwing rocks at houses. I wouldn’t stand for it too long.

I wouldn’t stand for it for too long either, but I’d take the parents to court, not murder a child over it.
Good question. If one of my kids had been repeatedly throwing rocks at someone's house and police had to be called on just one occasion, they would have been kept in the house and not been able to sit on their butt for a very long time. There is no way in heck I would have put up with something like that.
This story reminds me of the guy that killed the boy for walking on his grass.

When I was young. my friends and I played in these woods behind this old guys house. He did not like us walking through his propery. One day we were walking down the hill, heard him yelling, we looked up and he is pointing a gun outside of the window. We were only like 8 years old. It scared us to death. We went running through the woods and came out the otherside along a road about a half mile away. and walked home from there.
I dont know why we never told our parents. Maybe because we knew they didnt want us in that area anyway.

When I first looked at the name I thought of Demonic.
The sad thing is, that if the boys had been throwing rocks at a cop car, they would have shot the kid... and many on this forum would be defending them.
I wonder how many times these kids were actually punished for throwing rocks. If I found out one of my kids was throwing rocks at ANYBODY’s house, they’d be grounded for life. A 9 year old boy died because daddy and baby’s mama weren’t good parents. I could see myself going pretty nutso if a bunch of neighborhood kids kept throwing rocks at my house.

I had a gun pointed at me when I was around that age too. I don’t even remember what I was doing, but apparently it made somebody pretty mad. Whatever it was, I know I never did it again. I didn’t tell my parents either.
Yeah. We didnt go back onto the old mans property ever again. I dont even know why we wanted to go into that particullar area in the first place. There are woods all over the place where I grew up. We could have played in the woods anywhere. Probably because we knew we were not supposed to be there. LOL.
