Australia has the world's largest population of wild camels _ an estimated 1.2 million _ and considers them to be a growing environmental problem. The proposal, released for public comment this week, would allow sharpshooters to earn so-called carbon credits for slaughtering camels. Industrial polluters around the...

KABUL, Afghanistan (Jan. 19, 2011) — An Afghan man, shot by an insurgent in the remote hills of Qades district, Badghis province, received treatment from coalition forces Jan. 17. The patient, who sustained a gunshot wound to the arm, was immediately treated by a U.S. Special Forces medic upon arrival at the coalition forces base. After examining the wound, the medic determined that further treatment was required. Request to transport him was approved, allowing the patient to be medically evacuated to a nearby facility capable of providing the required care for the type of wound sustained. Earlier this week, eight...

I was checking around online to find a convenient place nearby to get an annual flu shot, as is my habit, but so far, every place offering shots this year I have gone to is stating something along the lines of this: "The H1N1 component is included in this year's Seasonal Influenza Immunization." They don't offer a "plain vanilla" flu shot, so to speak, that is, a regular flu shot, WITHOUT any H1N1. If I am unable to find a flu shot offered without H1N1 included, then I will be skipping it this year. My wife is a health care...

The shooting happened just before midnight Tuesday at a home on Antha near Bertwood in North Houston. Homicide detectives were investigating the case Wednesday. They confiscated several guns in the man's home. The elderly man said he let the victim inside his home before this time he feared for his life. If you sit down with Jack Hands, you'll hear plenty of stories that span over his 91 years. This story, however, is one he never thought he'd tell police. Hands shot and killed a man inside his home Tuesday night. "That's where he fell and I stood right here,"...
