What's on your grill for the Fourth of July?

Posted on 07/03/2007 9:58:59 AM PDT by Clam Digger

For me, I'll be doing up some clams (SHOCKER!) and the usual smoked turkey. Hey, Ben Franklin wanted it to be our national bird, ya know!

Meat named after cities in Germany ... I guess it has something to do with defeating the Hessian troops at the Battle of Bennington. Woo hoo General Stark!

LOL, steamers on the side burner, and hard clams right on the grill until they open up, for those that don’t like them raw on the half shell.

We have a low low tide tomorrow at around 8:30, I’ll bet it’s crowded with clammers in the harbor!

Dry rub ribs, burgers (with oregano, rosemary, parsley, paprika, and garlic salt kneaded in), Sabretts, and marshmallows:

Not grilling, frying. Dirtgirl wants fried chicken for the 4th, along with tater salad, chili beans and corn on the cob.

tater salad

Careful there. You'll have a Ron White thread on your hands if you keep that up.

Be sure to use the worst brat you can find.

Steaks (either ribeye or strip), chicken breasts, veggies (onions, zucchini, peppers, green beans), dessert (Georgia peaches warmed thru with good grill marks, served with ice cream). Served with a really good Riesling from New Mexico we discovered last summer.

A marinade I always use is equal parts soy sauce and vinegar with a Tablespoon or two of oil, marinade for a day or two (the longer the better) and man....that’s some good eatin’.
