How The Majority of FReepers are Chasing Rabbits
Vanity | 07/03/2007 | VaBthang4

Posted on 07/03/2007 1:04:29 PM PDT by VaBthang4

The majority of threads created, the majority of posts written...

From the knee-jerk and oft-times erroneous reports regarding illegal Immigration and the Politics behind it...to the divisions drawn up as a result of have so many phony hack politicians thinking that they can become a President...to the Terry Chiavo case...to Libertarians posing as Conservatives down to the moronic slander railed against President Bush...

I can only conclude that the so called Conservatives here at Free Republic have gotten off track.

Do all of us [Conservatives] have valid opinions? Of course.

Do all of us [Conservatives] have legitimate concerns? Of course.

Should we look past the appointing of Supreme Court judges who can now take back the Courts or the tremendous strides W has made in avenging 9/11, taking out Saddam Hussein and letting the leash off of the CIA & FBI in order for them to go after the immediate and real [see not imagined] threat to National Security and the Constitution; Sociopathic Islam?

God forbid.

Some of the things I have read here regarding the President's shortcomings have been just plain sad.

The adolescent ranting that once seemed confined to the Loserdopian crowd have crept into other circles.

The Anti-Illegal Immigration crowd [of which I would've thought I was a member] has been embarrassing in some of its observations and responses.

All the brutal incompetence regarding the Terry Schiavo case did NOTHING but provide Liberals with talking points and the opportunity to point to a supposed split within the Republican Party.

Now the divisiveness [I plead guilty] that results from supporting different Conservative [and not so Conservative] candidates, the majority of which do not stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning anything other than their own states/districts.

Something has got to give.

All I know is Liberals are united in taking back the Presidency. To the point that if any one of their candidates makes an attack against another candidate, their poll ratings drop instantly.

We better wake up.

The bottom-line is that with all of the failures of the former Conservative legislature and this President...the situation is light years ahead of what it will be if we stay fractured and GIVE this thing back to the Liberals.

Make no mistake about it...any one of these Democratic candidates will be the most Liberal, destructive President that this country has ever seen.

Wake up people and get your priorities straight.

Well gosh, Pollyanna, if we thought for a while we could list some good things Bill Clinton did, too. Who cares? My allegiance is to the U.S. Constitution, not to the well-being of some political party.

Sorry, but I did not catch your title.

In any event have a great Independence Day.

There is a great deal of sense in this post, and I say this as someone who is pretty well through with this president.

While most of the Republican “leadership” is pathetic, so is much of the Republican or formerly Republican base, for quite different reasons.

You will be abused, but I agree with you.

I have been repeatedly slammed for daring to defend Bush when he does something right.

BTW for all like me who had to look it up:

“Loserdopian” has something to do with “Conservatives abandoning the Libertarian Economics which formed the basis of the Reaganite Economic Revolution”

This seems like as good a thread as any to ask if anyone has seen any of the 25th anniversary G.I. Joe figures on store shelves anywhere . . .

If you think this Constitution can be defended without “some political party” — one that actually exists and has a large share of the seats in Congress, not one that a bunch of soreheads try to create out of thin air — you’re on drugs, FRiend.

“I still like Rudy.”

And I like your guts for saying so on FReep. I have very serious doubts about Rudy, in addition to liking him for some things, so will probably not support him for the nomination. But if he’s nominated, we must back him with all we’ve got.

Maybe it’s time to end support of fakes and demand nomination and election of a truly conservative president—one who will bring national cohesion (lower the trade deficit) and a stronger defense (finish the War).

VaBthang4,

Here is our problem. We are free thinking conservatives with independent thoughts, ideas and opinions. Frustrating as it is, we are mostly logical thinkers who seek independent information here and other places to form those ideas and opinions. We share them freely.

There are different classes of political folks here. There are some that research political issues and form their own opinion then post their thoughts. There are others that debate what they believe to be inaccurate. Then there is the group that just wants republicans to be in power.

I know your frustration. It stems from our political adversaries being so easily organized with “bumper sticker talking points.” It is easy to get sheep to go in the same direction. We have a minority in congress as a result of individual political and personal agenda issues with our elected officials.

We debate among ourselves on these pages in the interest of this country. We are not trying to score political points here. There is no reason. Instead, we would like to further our knowledge by sharing and debating with folks, like ourselves, that share a common ground. It is not wise to encourage a universal thought for the sake of gaining power. This technique serves a strategic purpose for our conservative legislatures at times, but is not always what is best for this country.

I find some of the heated debate hear enlightening when it is well articulated and respectfully (and tactfully) posted. But in this forum, there are very few sheep.
