LOCKPORT: Police investigating pit bull attack on toddler (Dog Rapes Boy?)
Niagara Gazette ^ | 7-09-07 | April Amadon

Lockport police are investigating an apparent attack by a pit bull on a small boy.

The 2-year-old is recovering at Women and Children’s Hospital in Buffalo after police say he was attacked and sexually assaulted by his family’s pit bull.

Police said the toddler was in his home on Washburn Street about 2 p.m. when the pit bull attacked. According to police, the dog sodomized the boy.

"The dog sexually attacked the kid and caused some pretty significant injuries," said Lockport Police Detective Capt. Larry Eggert.

Eggert said the boy’s family members and neighbors had to beat the dog to get it off the boy.

I've heard of "Dog Bites Man" and even "Man Bites Dog" but "Dog Rapes Boy"?? That's a new one.

That's one boy who is going to need a lot of psychiatric counseling in coming years...

Why did you add "Dog Rapes Boy?" to the original title?

It's a horrible enough story without the disgusting amplification. Maybe you could use some psychiatric counseling yourself...what's the point of posting this garbage?

Why did you click on it and reply to it?

I posted it because it was from a legitimate news source and describes something I’d never ever considered possible.

You’ll notice also I posted it in chat, not under News or Breaking News.

A lot of uncomfortable subjects are available here, from Muslim beheadings to drug abuse to homosexual topics. If they upset you, I’d suggest not clicking on them.

This is incredibly nasty. The kid must have been running around naked for the "attack" to have been successful enough to cause physical damage.

I have reservations about keeping any kind of dog around little kids because the dog is, after all, just an animal. And no matter how much we love them they can always do something primitive.

A while back I read about a petite woman (like 110 lbs) who had one of those gigantic dogs, I think a mastiff or something.

Anyway it tore her apart in the kitchen one day, then dragged her outside. Being Australia (gun control country) no one had any firearms to fight the beast with. It killed the woman and only the police could finally shoot it when they arrived.

Hopefully the boy in this article won't remember any of this.

Having suffered my own major trauma at that age (not dogs, it was a kitchen mishap that put me in the hospital for months), I doubt he'll consciously remember anything but there will still be subconscious issues he might have to deal with that he won't really understand, such as an extraordinary fear of dogs.

Is this possible? How would a 2 year old child have stayed still to be attacked by the dog. Something is fishy about this story.

It's not disgusting amplification. It is what happened. This vicious animal (the family pet) tried to penetrate the boy.

I'm so sick of these damn dogs! My apartment complex has by-laws that clearly state "no pets over 25 lbs" and "no pitbulls" and I have a neighbor who lets his f'ing pitbull run loose. I've complained to the management and they claim they don't know anything about it.

I'm about ready to take matters into my own hands. I swear to God, I'm gonna beat this dog to death with a tire-iron the next time I see it.

Every last one of these animals needs to be put down.

The news story seems legit (check the link). However, I have mulled over this story for a few days and I’m beginning to wonder exactly what the police meant by “sexual assault”. I won’t describe the possible translations of this phrase but I’m beginning to question if it meant something else than the way I presumed it was.

As for the child staying put, I am told pit bulls have a vice-like grip with their teeth and are relentless once they have something in their mouth (ever tried pulling a stick away from a dog that’s got one in his mouth? same thing.). So if the dog used his jaws to hold onto the child, the child probably screamed in pain but the dog would have probably just bit harder and continued whatever it meant to do.

Down boy! < g >

Seriously, if the dogs are a nuisance perhaps you should complain to the city or to the animal welfare folks rather than the apartment management.

FWIW, I think it is cruel for people to keep most dogs in apartments. They are meant to roam around outdoors and bark at anything that disturbs their peace. They aren't meant to live in little apartments.

Get your hands on a camcorder.

Finally, today, I had the apartment manager admit that she's heard the same complants from other residents. Apparently, nobody knows exactly what unit this dog resides in.

I hate to jump on the "ban something now" bandwagon but, face it, 99% of pitbull owners don't have the slightest idea how to raise pets. They own these dogs for the status symbols of having a vicious dog. They give them names like "Ripper" and "Killer" and put choke-chains around their necks and revel in what mean dogs they have. Then they go off to work and keep these animals cooped up on their apartments all day.

Then they come home from work (or from family services), smoke some rock --or meth (white trailer trash and black thugs seem to love these dogs equally), and accidentally let "Ripper" out loose. Next thing you know, some kid has been mauled to death. --and poor "Ripper" he never hurt no one before!!!

These dogs need to be destroyed and their owners need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

I’ve had pits and/or pit mixes my whole life, and not ONE of them has ever attacked anyone. Pits are not by nature human-aggressive.

Irresponsible and abusive dog owners of any breed should be hammered, but don’t tread on me or my dogs who are contained and not aggressive.

I am local to the Buffalo/Niagara area and this news article doesn’t tell the whole story. The mother of this child was changing the boys diaper when she had to temporarily leave the room for some unknown reason. She heard the boy scream and when she went back into the room she saw the dog on the boy in the act. When she yelled at the dog, he was supposedly scared and ran outside. Unfortunately, the boy was still attached to him. That is why the story mentions the neighbors beating the dog to get him off the boy.

There is now this big debate in the area about whether or not the dog should be euthanized and there are actually people calling the SPCA with offers to adopt.

Amazing! I’m sure the dog doesn’t understand what all the fuss is about but I don’t understand the adults let a pit around small children either.

The mother was changing the kid, left the room in the middle and the dog found his chance. The child had no bottom clothing on. No, the dog did not remove the clothing or rip through them, the child was simply naked from waist down.
Some reports say the dog could have been attracted to the sent of the child (never knew dogs to be attracted to human feces??).
Some reports say the dog was reaching sexual maturation and its ‘signals crossed’.
If you ask me, having a dog that will copulate on command could be a good commodity. This thought only enters my mind because I live down the street from the house in which this charade took place. The chances are likely that the family is involved with the sale and distribution of crack, cocaine, speed, methamphetamines and who knows what else.
My personal confusion is how the dog knew there was a hole there. In my life experience, every anal opening that I was made aware of, was also surrounded by two large pouches of fat, aka. butt cheeks. Did the dog get aroused, mount and get lucky while it was humping away? No really, if there was a hole in people’s legs this would happen all the time, right??? Maybe the dog humped the kid all the time and the parents (likely, but obviously not proven, to be high in the sky) and this time the dog just got lucky?!?

Ok, I am the PROUD owner of 2 male pit bulls, and the extremely proud mother of a 2 year old girl. As well as a moody cat! The first and BIGGEST mistake here is that the dog wasn’t fixed. It was just doing what intact male dogs do. It didn’t see the baby as being a child, it was an object, much like a stuffed animal. And, I think it’s safe to assume, that the dog wasn’t around the child much, so the child wasn’t part of it’s “pack.”
Now, both of my dogs ARE fixed, and I would NEVER leave my daughter around an unaltered male dog naked unsupervised, that’s just ASKING for trouble.
My dogs have NEVER bit or even attempted to bite anyone, EVER. They are just like any other dog, and no, their jaws don’t “lock” that’s a myth. Yes, they are powerful animals, that’s what they were made for, was to fight bulls (hence the name).
The pit was once the choice family dog in America, but their power and loyalty then became abused and mistreated by gang bangers and back yard breeders. If you wanna know more on them, watch off the chain, it’s a DVD that goes into their history, and their current “situation.”
They are NOT a vicious breed, pit bull is the most abused and neglected breed, but they still want to love. They were bred to be NON-human aggressive....they actually score EXTREMELY high on temperament tests, higher than most dogs out there. Please get informed before you look to exterminate this beautiful breed.
Proof that I have 2 pits that are GOOD SWEET dogs www.myspace.com/goddessalicorn

I have a Pitt bull. She jumped in my truck one night when it was very cold. I did not want to leave her out in the cold since there was snow forecast for the night. When I got back home and carried my kids in to bed, she followed us inside and laid next to one of my kids on the bed. She has been here ever since. I will say she is very protective of our home and jumped the fence so we had to buy a very strong tie out for her time outside. She is very friendly and good with the kids. She does have some instinctual aggression towards other dogs that are not members of our household. Overall I think people should be cautious of any dog but not all pitt bulls are bad dogs especially if they are cared for in an affectionate way. You should call animal control the next time you see the dog.
