And like Hincapie in the Tour of California, and Landis during last year’s tour, with the degenerative hip. Even if he did mess around with some testosterone supplement, and I’m not convinced he did, it was quite a feat. It’s too bad that effort has been overshadowed by everything else.

...For whatever reason, people wanted to cheer for Lance Armstrong. Now that he has gone, thankfully this country has gone back to not caring about bike riding.

It's unfortunate you feel like that. I'm an American and I set the alarm to view the 2007 TDF at 06:00 am.. What really stinks is that the finish is in the timeframe I need to be in the office, so I get to watch it again that night, and pray I don't read the results before that evening.

Lance was....special... 7 TDF's and the best from you is "for whatever reason"

Lance isn't there this year, nor is Landis. Nonetheless, the TDF is a special month long event....regardless of who is in it. If you don't / can't / won't appreciate it, that's fine. That's your business.

I love it....

It is a cool race through great scenery, no doubt about it.

I love watching the TDF. I ride a mountain bike and I know those guys are incredible athletes. I could never do even a fraction of what those guys do, even though I am a relatively good bike rider and in pretty good shape.

Even for non-bicyclists I imagine it’s thrilling to watch guys zooming around hairpin turns at 30-40 miles per hour.

Seeing all the bicycling-haters come on threads that talk about bicycling is like watching Macintosh-haters come on the Mac threads and rant about Macs...if you don’t like soemthing, then don’t post to threads that chat about those things!

Well, some of the scenery, anyway... ;>)

Borat is expanding his cultural horizons,
taking a trip to France. We hear he's hoping
the lessons he learns on Le Tour will make benefit
glorious nation of Kazakhstan.

LOL, thanks, leilani (I think :). Take a close look at the pic again - note that the rider 2nd from our right is looking at the south end of a north-bound Borat, and appears to be losing control of his bike.

That’s for sure...many, many times I’ve seen people who hate Macs talk about how bad they are compared to PC’s, when I’ve run my business on both for the last 10 years and can attest that the Macs are far superior in the printing/graphics industry, yet the know-it-alls just blather blindly on about things they know nothing about!

Oh, he probably doesn't mean it, Bay. He's just cranky because Thor isn't doing so well in the tour. Right, Euro!?

Also, I'd imagine that all Norwegians are prone to fits of temper during the summer, wouldn't you, and who could really blame them? How's a person supposed to get any rest when they've got sun shining in their eyes 24 hours a day?

Euro's probably just sleep-deprived right now, but he'll be back to his old sweet self soon enough when some decent nightime finally rolls back around up to Scandinavia again anyway.

Besides, the Tour de France threads don't count. As part of the Politics-Free Zone here at FR, they're opus-immune.

I'm very sorry, €! Your resignation papers are not officially recognized by the citizenship authorities in TdFland so I'm afraid you're still stuck with us over here.
