I seen on Fox News that an NBA referee was tied to the mob and was involved for 3 NBA seasons ensuring point spreads between games he officiated.
Wow so that’s why the Kings were getting all those bad calls against the Lakers 3 seasons back.

I always thought NBA referees and professional wrestling referees were interchangable.

I think it was fixed!
It's the wrong tone.
If a '98er wants to use "seen" in a post, then it's OK by me.
;-)
Frankly, although I'm not as ardent a follower of the NBA as I once was (it's darn difficult with thirty teams floating around out there), I've never heard of this Donaghy. Does anyone know how many years he's reffed in the NBA? His home town and other background info?
It's about time we 'charter members' start kickin some butt on here! hahaha
Why not check out those old box scores from that series and see whether or not this Donaghy officiated any of the games in that series, and if he did, how was that game officiated, who won, and did the officiating affect the outcome.
Seems like it's fairly difficult, in general, for one of three officials to fix a game without it sometimes being very obvious to players, coaches, fans, and the two other officials. He would have to do things like call fouls that don't exist against the team he's betting against, expecially its star players (to get them into foul trouble and eventually fouled out). Even that might not insure the outcome, because the team he's betting on still has to put the ball in the hoop - and he couldn't do that for them alone.
You must not have seen the Mavs Miami series last year. The mavs played horribly and deserved to lose, but it was the officiating that beat them. I have never seen so many obvious bad calls in one series since... any LA game.
This stuff goes on all the time. The perpetrators rarely even get scrutinized, let alone caught.
I remember a football game from a couple of years ago where one team kept fumbling the ball and the other team would recover it. Then the refs would reverse the call and say the runner was already down, when replays show, obviously so, that they were NOT down and the ref was in perfect position to make the correct call, but did not. The team that kept fumbling (6 times!) ended up winning the game.
