NEWARK, New Jersey (CNN) -- A teenager has been arrested in connection with the execution-style killings of three college students in a Newark school yard, a source close to the investigation told CNN.
The suspect is believed to be 14 or 15 years old, the source told CNN.
The teen's arrest on Wednesday night was the result of information provided by shooting survivor Natasha Aeriel, 19, the source said.
She is in stable condition and under heavy police guard at The University Hospital in Newark, recovering from gunshot and knife wounds.
Newark has become accustomed to violence but the killings Saturday night touched a nerve.
The four friends, ages 18 to 20, were shot while listening to music in a school yard.
Three of them -- Terrance Aeriel, 18, Dashon Harvey, 20; and Iofemi Hightower, 20 -- were forced to kneel against a wall and were shot in the head, execution style.
Authorities have said robbery appeared to be the motive, but Essex County Prosecutor Paula Dow said Tuesday that police also were looking into possible gang involvement.

That SOB.
Sent by older gang members because he’s a juvy.
If it was him who did it, give him a speedy trial, and be done with him!
End.
as the mother of a 14 year old, I am just sick to my stomach
If this case does not make everyone sick to their stomach, there is something seriously wrong with America.
This kid doesn’t need to be charged with capital murder, he’s obviously the victim of anger management issues. All he really needs is a big hug and some counseling.
And if that doesn’t work, then drown the little bastard.
If be done with him is suggesting execution....not in NJ. They haven’t executed anyone in 25-30 years. The liberal courts system always accepts the defense lawyers reasons not to, regardless of how heinous the crime. In fact, the last I read the Dems in Jersey intend to introduce legislation banning the death penalty.
Either that or a gang initiation.
Regardless, all members of the gang should be regarded as accessories. The needle for all of them.
