I thought it was distributive.

Once again I propose what by now should be a classical experiment in psychology, in which a group of randomly chosen people are put in a room to hear a lecture by someone wearing the uniform of a high-ranking military officer, or a lab coat.

They are told and shown pictures that are “proof” that space aliens exist, and will soon be coming to Earth.

Then they are evaluated, to determine what their response to this information will be. And they will generally all give a typical response, that if extrapolated to the population as a whole, would result in a major national disaster if the public were to see such evidence.

Certainly some would have an extreme reaction, which would be bad enough, but a large block would take a “wait and see” attitude that could be far worse. Instead of going about their daily routines, they would stop working and just sit down in front of their television waiting for more information.

Such a reaction could bring our entire economy to an abrupt halt, resulting in disaster. And it wouldn’t matter one whit what, if anything, the space aliens did.

Now as I said, this should be a “classical” experiment in psychology that the government should have been aware of at the latest in the 1960s, and repeated often, since. So if they still get results that could be catastrophic to our economy and our nation, their actions should be straight forward.

That real or false evidence of space aliens should be very carefully controlled, and that a long term program should be carried out to try and change the public response to such a potentially traumatic event.

In other words, creating movies and TV shows to help the public learn to deal with either a panic response to the idea of space aliens; or more importantly, to be so unmoved by such evidence that they continue with their normal lives. Not respond as they did when “War of the Worlds” was first broadcast over the radio.

Eventually, such a program would need to “find”, or generate, very far flung “proof” that aliens exist, but in such a way that they can pose no threat to Earth. But even the discovery of some alien “artifact”, from ages ago, would have to be very carefully managed.

And every effort would need to be checked and re-checked with the use of psychological experiments, with the hope that eventually disaster wouldn’t strike if such a thing as alien contact took place.

There are a couple of ways to look at potential alien encounters.

First they will be technologically advanced as to seem almost supernatural to us. In this case there’s the possibility that they wouldn’t have much more than a passing interest. Ants could hold my attention for hours when I was a child but now it’s rare that an ant will hold my attention for more than a few seconds.

Second they could want something from us. This would likely be a bad thing due to their technological advantage making them unstoppable.

Third is that they would want to do something for us. Unfortunately that’s no more likely than the first two scenarios. I suppose it could be possible if we were the only alien life they’ve ever discovered.

And finally, maybe they just want to cut our grass and prepare our food.

Seriously, have any of you people ever seen a picture from the dark side?

Here's one of the more aptly named far side of the moon.

We never went to the moon so why airbrush.

Huhu! Plus there’s nobody out there. just big rocks circling around
with nobody on them. We are the only ones, and all those billions of rocks are for us to look at (even the trillions we can’t see)... Ain’t we special on this little speck in the corner of the milkyway?

Hey don't question the intelligence of the George Noory audience! Okay, that was pretty bad, I admit.

Don't tell anyone, but sometimes I like to scroll through some of George's ufo/alien/ghost photos.

just between you and me...

"creating movies and TV shows to help the public learn to deal with either a panic response to the idea of space aliens"

So that's why in the movie ID4, they told the public to please not shoot at the spaceships?

It’s a little complicated for the level of thought on FR, but George Noory and Dr Mallett proved this week there are no space alien civilizations.

Your harsh, derisive judgmentalism will come back to haunt you with a fierceness you never thought possible.

With great anguish you will regret every word written or uttered out of that attitude and mentality.

I don’t know how soon this humility will thunderously overwhelm you . . . I just know for certain that it will.

I consider it highly unlikely that you will repent and humble yourself . . . therefore, the only option left from the universal law of reaping what one sows . . . is the above.

I also know that in this era . . . increasingly . . . the time between the reaping and sowing is decreasing . . . and the reaping such seems to include greater and greater amounts of “interest” on the investment.

Haughtiness is not very pretty regardless of what it hides behind.

Other than the obvious problem of faster than light travel, there is a significant problem of both time and distance.

That is, of the about 4.5 billion year life of Earth so far, people have been intelligent for about 100,000 years and technological for about 200 years. The universe itself is about 13.6 billion years. So we are really a flash in the pan.

This means that we need to mutually locate another such flash in the pan intelligent species, unless intelligent species, as species, tend to be very long lived. Otherwise, unless intelligent species create other intelligent species that can outlive them, it is unlikely that we would ever cross each other’s paths before one or the other is extinct.

I suspect that a truely intelligent species would recognize the need to leave the nest (home planet) so they would get on that horse and push the boundries of technology to do so.

If they want to do so with faster than light travel they would have to take the relativity hit and realize that it’s a one way trip. On the other hand, they could know things about space and shortcuts through it that we haven’t even got an inkling about.

In any case it’s all interesting and thought provoking stuff.

If Wikipedia is correct we landed on the Moon in 6 Appollo missions and the Russians landed there three times.

Apparently Apollo 12,14,15,16,17 and 18 were manned missions to the moon. | didn’t remember that many either but I remember several.
