Welllllll ... it’s really supposed to be a NO labor Day! So you’re in good shape!
To: snugs
They just ran a bunch of labs yesterday and I’m doing well! Dr said it was up to me whether or not I wanted to have another iron IV drip for the anemia, but I opted out. LOL I’m ok, just tired because it was a tough week getting the old kitchen cabinets ripped out and the new ones installed. Still have no kitchen sink or counter tops and won’t for another couple of weeks so we’re eating lots of sammiches and fast food! LOL Thanks for asking, Snugs!

To: LantzALot
I’m so sorry Lantz. Yes that does make it a tough w/e for you, sir.

Well, it took a while. I log on between trying to do things here, and then look briefly in on each site. I’ll catch up with you sooner or later. If you’re a betting type, pick later.

Sorry to hear that this weekend is bittersweet for me as well as it would have been my mum’s 84th birthday but she passed on Christmas day not last year but the year before.

Look forward to seeing them - I will post a couple of photos I took today in the sunshine in Ashford it made the Parish Church and church yard look really lovely, you could almost imagine you were in the middle of the country instead of a town.

Here a few photos of the church and church yard taken from the footpath that circles round it.

Sorry to hear that, snugs. Holidays are hard when loved ones are gone; this must make your Christmases especially difficult.

One of the things that Ive noticed over the past 20 years is that secular holidays have been emphasized while religious ones de-emphasized. As a child, Christmas was the 800 pound gorilla, as was Thanksgiving, then Easter. Events like labor day came and went without much notice.
You too, huh? I noticed the same thing, especially with Easter. When I was a kid, it seemed like Easter was tied or at least just "this much" ahead of Thanksgiving in the pecking order of holidays. Today, it seems like Easter is barely above the signal to noise ratio. B-( So far, Thanksgiving and Christmas have survived taking their hits but if we don't defend those (defend Easter too), they can diminish over time as well. As a kid, we had "Easter Break," now it is "spring break," we had "Christmas week" 9and some change) off, not it is "winter break." I vaguely remember Lincoln's and Washigntons birthdays were separate (I'm 41 years old) but now have been combined into Presidents' Day, we don't even get that off. B-P

Good pics, snugs, it is almost like I'm there. Would like to see the UK someday with all the old buildings and history. BTW, do you celebrate Labor (Labour) Day in the UK, I THINK they do in Canada, I'm not sure. BTW, I've been meaning to run to the store but Corky (18) keeps wanting to be fed so that's why I'm on the computer. She's doing pretty good, not sure, but I think she is putting a little weight on although she could use more, but as the vet said, older cats do tend to lose some weight plus she is diabetic and has some kidney problems. She still quite stroing though, if she really had to, she could jump =3+ feet up to the bathroom sink to have a drink.

No we do not have Labour Day in September we have May Day which is the first Monday in May.
Click here for more details on May Day traditions
This is a wonderful website set up by a primary school in Kent which gives many details of British life and traditions. The origins of this website is that the school was looking for something similar based at children of about 8 - 11 about France to compliment their French lessons. They could not find such as site and it got them thinking is there an English website about English traditions etc and on finding there was not started one. It now has a full time maintenance staff though is still based around Woodlands Primary School.
