Kathy Griffin, the star of the Bravo show "My Life on the D-List," used her appearance on the Emmy awards program to tell Jesus to "suck it" and to claim full credit for the honor for herself.
Griffin, at the 59th annual Creative Arts Emmy Awards held recently, was honored for having the Outstanding Reality Program, overtaking ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" after several attempts.
"I guess hell froze over," Griffin announced. "A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this. He had nothing to do with this. ... Suck it, Jesus! This award is my god now."
The statement brought an immediate reaction from Bill Donohue, president of Catholic League. He called it a "vulgar in-your-face brand of hate speech" from a self-described "complete militant atheist." He also suggested The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences chairman Dick Askin take action, which wasn't long in coming.
Officials confirmed the remarks will be censored when the program airs Saturday on E!, and Donohue said it was a good beginning.
"The Academy … reacted responsibly to our criticism of Kathy Griffin's verbal assault on 85 percent of the U.S. population," he said. "The ball is now in Griffin's court. The self-described 'complete militant atheist' needs to make a swift and unequivocal apology to Christians. If she does, she will get this issue behind her. If she does not, she will be remembered as a foul-mouthed bigot for the rest of her life."
He continued: "Mel Gibson. Michael Richards. Isaiah Washington. Imus. Jerry Lewis. Every time a celebrity offends a segment of the population, he pays a price, in one way or another. The question now is whether Kathy Griffin will pay a similar price for her outburst. And as we have learned, her verbal assault was calculated."

Pity. I think it should be left in so everyone can know who this woman really is. I’ve seen some of her stuff. It seems she alternates between going for shock and simply being a petty, back biting celebrity gossip.
Infinite love is creating a being who you know in advance is going to complain.
I wonder why she didn’t say: “Suck it Mohammed”? Oh, yeah, I forgot. “Courageous” artists know that it is safe to offend Christians, but perilous to offend even a single Muslim.
how will people know abut her outburst if it is censored?

I completely agree. Let her say what she wants and let the those who watch her hear it so that they will know what kind of person she is.

If Judas hadn’t betrayed God, then God would have been wrong, wouldn’t He?
I think He gives us the choice, but because he is the inventor of time and is not bound by time - He can see the future consequences of today’s thoughts and actions.
To say that Judas didn’t have a choice is to say that God was cruel enough to create someone just to condemn them.
So, I have to think that if Judas had not betrayed the Lord, Jesus still would have been arrested and crucified.

I agree and certainly hope we learn someday. I also believe that we merely have the belief that we have free-will, but if God truly does have a path for each of us to follow, then whatever we do, must be what He want us to do.

well you are mistaken because if “she knew better”,
she would KNOW that she just committed blasphemy.
and she would also KNOW that she just insulted God and 85% of the population who no matter how committed they are to Christianity; none of whom would. in their right minds EVER say what she said.

I hope she saved some of that money she made doing stand-up because her career just went in the toilet.
Now that’s what I am “sure” of.
- There are only two things that I know for sure about Griffin and both of them suggest that she is a lying publicity hound who will say anything to draw attention to herself and boost her career prospects.
The first time that I saw her was some years back when she was a relative unknown who appeared on one of those Comedy Central shows. She got all choked up during her claim that she had been the live in lover of Andy Kaufman, who had just died. Later, I learned on a Biography special that Kaufman had never lived with her and probably had no idea who she was.
Second, I saw parts of her recent one hour comedy special during which she took every opportunity to mention her husband and what a great team they made. I learned later that she divorced him in 2006, which must have been close to the time of her Special on which she was professing undying love for him.
In other words, she is a pathological liar.
