Please avail yourselves and potential converts of this excellent one hour video of Rep. John Linder and talk show host, Neal Boortz, discussing the FairTax.
I suggest that you save this; it seems to be hard to locate through the American Solutions website.
Also, please don't miss the feedback questionaire on the right of the video window.
Please tell everyone to call their Congresspersons and insist on support of the FairTax, HR 25 in the House of Reps., and S 1025 in the Senate; it won't happpen unless we do.

Thanks for the ping. 67 cosponsors now signed up!
Congressman Linder and Neil Boortz have all bases covered!
National CPA organization is for FairTax! They make more money in forecasting and business planning than in recording the past.
Realtors for the FairTax! But National Association of Realtors is against it because they are lobbyists that get paid to protect the mortgage deduction, but mortgage deduction not necessary because there will be no income reporting to deduct from!
Boortz: To criticize the FairTax you either have to:
a. lie about it or,
b. rewrite its terms and then criticize it according to the way it is rewritten.
Most against FairTax are 53% of 34,000 lobbyists inside Beltway that are there to game the tax code.
Outside Beltway the People want it!

And still the fair tax has gaping flaws. Those must be fixed before this idea can get the support it deserves (i.e. sufficient to actually pass.)

check-brain-at-door-alert If you do don't lose it. You know how small it is. What is so bad about the FairTax that you would keep the monstrosity we have? What is good about the monstrosity in comparisson?

The main good thing is that we don't have this monstrosity and a national sales tax on top of it.
Fair Taxers seem loathe to admit that their "solution" is but a single step away from exactly that since they refuse to tie the Fair Tax to a repeal of the 16th and instead expect the small miracle of that repeal happening at some point in the distant future.
Trust the government, die to the government.

Bull. You know better than that. No FairTaxer would ever support the plan if it didn't include repeal of the 16th. What do you mean by "fairtaxers seem loathe to admit"? It's part of the bill to pursue eliminating it. That is why you guys lose all credibility on these threads except to your script writers and cohorts.

It's part of the bill to pursue eliminating it.
And therein lies the problem.
I don't want the government to "pursue eliminating" the withholding tax or the possibility of implementing one after the fair tax is in place. I want the fair tax implementation irrevocably dependant on the repeal of the 16th.
Pursue eliminating the 16th before implementing the fair tax. Make the fair tax go into effect on the day that the 16th is repealed.

Make the fair tax go into effect on the day that the 16th is repealed. Mark up the bill to reflect that. You'll have howls from all over that the gov't cannot be funded. It would be fun to listen to.

Only from idiots that don't understand the concept of time. I generally ignore those types anyway.
It's quite simple. The current tax system would be dissolved on one day with the fair tax going into effect on the next. All I'm saying is that the repeal of the 16th should be at that juncture, not after it or before it.
Those too dumb to understand that shouldn't be worried about taxes anyway. . .

So AFFT saying the Fairtax reduces compliance costs 90% is just a lie...
