San Diego has acquired wide receiver Chris Chambers from the Miami Dolphins for what it believed a second-round draft choice, FOXSports.com has learned.
Chambers confirmed the trade in an email to FOXSports, but declined further comment until speaking with Dolphins coach Cam Cameron and general manager Randy Mueller.

NFL ping!
How about Joey Porter? I would think the Fins would want to unload that bigmouth non-performer quick!
Doubtful anyone would take him in a trade.
Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor still have value, though. JT can probably yield a 1st round pick from a team that considers itself a contender, and ZT could net a 3rd. I consider JT more expendable than ZT, though.
The Chargers need an outside threat. Right now Gates is their only receiver opposing defenses are worried about.
Wow, thats a helluva upgrade for the Chargers.
They know they’re going to need to put some more points on the board if they want to compete with NE and IND.
No doubt about that aspect. They know the time is ‘now’ for this team.
‘TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Tampa Bay acquired running back Michael Bennett from the Kansas City Chiefs on Tuesday, hoping he helps them compensate for the loss of injured tailbacks Carnell “Cadillac” Williams and Michael Pittman. ‘
fyi. The Sporting News has this one up in their forum.
Chambers is both an outside and a deep threat. Guy does it all as long as he believes in his QB, otherwise he quits. He caught fire at the beginning of this year because he and Trent Green were on the same page.
Really going to miss Chambers. Maybe we can pick him back up as a free agent in 2009.
Awesome. I’ve been picking against the Dolphins for my Survival Football league with a $5000 prize and this just makes it an even better strategy. From 16-0 to 0-16!
Indy hasn’t played SD, yet, but we were able to beat them when they didn’t have much of a downfield threat. Good news for us Pats fans wanting best AFC record.
Right when the Chargers are getting hot, too. If this works out, that means the Chargers climbed from the toilet to the elite in all of two weeks.
Looks like a pretty solid draft class coming up, at least, especially at QB and the skill positions. Should be a good offseason for rebuilding.

Yeah I wouldn’t put too big a bet on that. They beat the Broncs and the Raiders after all, they might be out of the toilet but let’s hold off on the elite.
Dolphins won’t be taking a QB unless John Beck completely and totally flames out. Rumor is he’ll be starting November 11 against Buffalo, and the rest of the season from then on. I can see Mueller using the threat of taking Brian Brohm to trade down with Atlanta, though. DeAngelo Hall and a 5th rounder should be enough for Atlanta to trade up from #4 to #1.
I’m just baffled that Jason Taylor wasn’t traded.
SD will probably win the AFC West on sheer talent if nothing else, and on paper there’s no excuse for them not to. We’re rebuilding (for lack of a better term) and Denver is...well Denver. I can only theorize that SD would have to win in spite of Norv Turner, and right now I’m not sure they can...
From what I can tell about San Diego, the problem isn’t Norv Turner, but rather Ted Cottrell.
