Hawking her book.Funny you should bring that up.
Last semester I took a Mass Communications class and had a paper that the professor took two points off for using hawking instead of hocking. I looked it up and both are correct. I ended up taking my case to the English department chair who informed us we were both incorrect because it was slang no matter which you used.

According to my dictionary (Oxford):
Hock2
Informal term for pawn.
Hawk2
carry around and offer goods for slae, typically advertising them by shouting.
In case anyone cares. ;-) There isn't any selling definitely for "hock", and no pawning definition for "hock".

Er...obvious typo in that last bit - no pawning definition for “hawk”.

Ack...and there are at least two more typos in there.
Serves me right for attempting to be erudite this late in the evening...

I caught some of it, she is very poised and sweet!
Was the crowd polite when she came in?
Thanks!

I remember reading some idiot blogger rant against Jenna and Barbara because they haven’t served in the military. Then, a few weeks later, that same idiot ranted that women shouldn’t be in the military!
(shaking head sadly)

My impression of a Hawk: "Caw! Caw!"
My impression of a hock: "In Philadelphia, it's worth fifty bucks."
