But was it bagpipes? I always thought it was a harmonizer like REM used.

That is sad about the singer.

We are working a charity golf tourney at my wife's club tomorrow for Wounded Warriors/Veterans Day. I am playing with a young man with wounds and bone disease. Sobering. Here is to all Vets, esp airborne!

Yes, but it sounded very authentic, euro. Most folks know them only for the song Big Country, but lots of their stuff was quite good.

My roomie had some albums, but we were in GA and REM ruled. Plus they were playing local all the time.

Still have the LP. Now I’ve just got to get a new turntable (record player).

I have LP's and albums with no way to play them also. It reminds me of seeing in my youth, people that had wax cylinders with no way to listen to them.

I spent a year in Sweden in 1986. Anyone, GI’s I suppose, that were in Europe back then can’t forget Italio Disco, a strange type of music based on synth, disco, dance music. This song epitomizes that type of music. I see quite a bit posted on youtube for “italio disco”.

Sorry I have to laugh when you compare rolling stones and the temps...no comparison IMO..I guess only the good die young...

How about this one—very few have ever sung like him-—most recently used in the fabulous Wong Kar Wai film “IN the Mood for Love.”

Phonos are still widely available thanks in part to hip hop DJing. Look around. They are out there. And, I saw a device the other day that converts them via a firewire or USB hookup to your computer digitally.

Stones, not a huge fan. One Hit (to the body) was my favorite. I remember this video when it came out, very much a sign of the times with issues in El Salvador. Keith Richards looking especially scary.

I was in the Air Force based in England in the early 90's. Katrina and the Waves played at the Enlisted Club as part of a USO tour. In the hour long set, the played Walking on Sunshine 3 times!

I’m no fan at all...most (not all) Brit bands have made their fortunes leeching off the US born and bred musical geniuses.

Most Brit bands I find boring...

Hey, if you thought Italio Disco was gay...

Here is one of the king of gay bands of the 80’s, Dead or Alive. I loved their music, though they were fruity as a salad. Here are two songs by them that are pretty good. Pete Burns finally did decide to become a girl...

That guy could have had any girl he wanted, especailly with that hair of his.

My oldest brother was writing a book and had The Troggs on his mind for some reason. I was due to visit him for Easter, and he asked me if I could find a copy of Love Is All Around.

I put it on a tape and he played it so many times in a row I thought we would all kill ourselves! It was a lovely family weekend...:)
