Mother of slain rapper sues city (Chicago)
Chicago Sun-Times ^ | November 30, 2007 | FROM STNG WIRE REPORTS

The mother of West Side rapper "The Saint," who was fatally shot by police two weeks ago, filed a lawsuit Friday-- the third suit filed by the rapper’s family members in three days.

Juanita Wilson, mother of the deceased rapper, is suing for the wrongful death of her son, Freddie Latrice Wilson, according to a suit filed in Cook County Circuit Court Friday.

Juanita Wilson is suing the City of Chicago after Freddie Wilson was stopped by police officers on the 100 block of North Lorel Avenue in the Austin neighborhood on Nov. 13.

The suit claims four unknown officers approached her son and fired 20 shots, and that the officers had “no reason to threaten Latee with a gun and open fire upon him, killing him.”

Juanita Wilson is asking for more than $600,000 for the “senseless” loss of her son.

On Thursday, Angela Jadoo, the mother of Freddie Wilson’s son, Latee Wilson, is suing for the wrongful shooting death of her child's father.

Jadoo’s suit filed Thursday claimed Wilson had his arms raised and was unarmed when he was shot.

On Wednesday, Corintha Federick, the mother of Freddie Wilson’s other son King Latee Osei’el, also filed a wrongful death suit in Wilson’s death.

Three officers opened fire on the West Side rapper known as “The Saint” after stopping him for a traffic violation, police said. The shooting is under investigation by the city's new Independent Police Review Authority, according to Sun-Times reports.

Both Jadoo and Federick's suits claim the officers should have refrained from exhibiting reckless disregard for the safety of others and Wilson. The officers also allegedly did not refrain from using deadly force only to protect themselves or others from death.

There has to be more to this story, other than a sweet innocent, yute, killed for no reason at all.

Can any Chicago area members clue me in?

I don't live in the windy city, but I think 20 bullets is overkill, in probably the most appropriate use of the term.

20 shots makes a cop look really, really messed up.

I’m going to tell you something right now. If one of my children died two weeks ago, the last thing, THE LAST THING I would be thinking about would be monetary compensation.

I agree. Further, how do they even know what happened at this point? They can’t identify the officers and the city hasn’t completed its investigation.

All three of these so called ‘women’ have filed suit in the last two weeks. Two of them mothers of his children and the other his mother. Did they all collaborate to have him whacked? What a bunch of low life's.

How about the community bands together and sues the estate for the damage done by the rapper’s “music?”
