A LOOK AT AN ESPN TELEVISED COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAME
TELEVISED FOOTBALL GAME | 12-01-2007 | SELF

Posted on 12/01/2007 11:59:34 AM PST by OKIEDOC

This morning I watched the Tulas vs UCF football game.

After about so many useless camera shots I decided to keep score of the number of camera shots in just 10 minutes of the second half.

CAMERA SHOTS:

OTHER (INCLUDES REPLAYS, GRAPHICS, REPORTERS) 47 SHOTS

CHEERLEADERS...................................13

CROWD AND STUPID LOOKING FRUITCAKE FANS........44

FOOTBALL PLAYER CLOSEUP'S AFTER PLAY..........101

REF CLOSEUPS...................................12

SIDELINES......................................52

TALKING TO DIGNATRIES 3MINUTES DURING PLAY......1

GAME ACTION FULL FIELD PLAYS...................47

I do not know about some of you but the narrow scope of the on-screen picture is enough to make a grown man make a post to this forum.

I wonder how many times ESPN needs to show a players mother making a complet ass out of herself running up and down the sidelines.

The Thursday night game with the NFL was much better but it did show more full field.

No huddles! Remember when they use to show huddles!

The games are so over-produced these days that it makes me long for the time before instant replays.

The most annoying thing is when ESPN has the girl announcer...Pam Ward. Unless it is a great game, I am forced to turn on another sporting event.

Hear hear. Show the bleeding football field, you morons! I can't watch this instant-cut MTV-generation epilectic-fit-inducing dreck.

...and worse than that, who are the lipschitz(s) making these boneheaded “producing” decisions. You have made an excellent, “What were they thinking?” observation.

It all depends on the spot.

Why in the name of the real God in heaven do these people feel justified to show so many damn fan shots.

I do not turn on the game to watch a bunch of idiots dressed up like San Fransicko perverts.

I am sure that much of this can be traced to idiot producers who used to work for feel good networks such as the Clinton No-news Network and PMSNBC.

I hate it when they have those “starting lineup” intros that always overrun the first few plays. And it seems they are often showing some cutesy thing and not quite making it back to the snap of the ball in time.

I agree, what a disgrace, 300+ camera shots and only 13 of the cheerleaders!!!! That’s all I would watch college football for...... :^)

LOL, strangely enough I've been in crowd shots such as these (for a few seconds anyway, I'm the one with the gray Raiders skull cap)

They all need a wider shot of the plays themselves — especially pass plays.

Saw a re-run of Navy running back a touchdown — the shot was so close on the back you couldn’t see where Army’s special team got beaten, blocked or just plain out maneuvered.

The close-up of the run was cinematic, I suppose, but it left mystery as to what was really happening on the field.

I’m sorry GOP_Raider but Raiders fans don’t count or qualify as political correctness.

I actually enjoy seeing my crazy fat cousin dressed up like Hagar's wife Helga.

Thats what bothers me.

The announcers are so busy talking about Paris Hilton or some other stupid crap that they hardly ever tell you that the ball is here or there.

Monday Night football drives me wild especially the announcers.

I want a full shot more that just during the initial start of the play.

Another thing that drives me crazy is when there is a penalty and the infraction is not shown.

In one respect, I’m totally with you about ESPN’s over-production of a football game. What infuriates me the most is the alternative camera shots of the coach, the crowd, the band, whatever you may, during the pre-snap moments. Then the sudden camera switch as the play is already about a second underway. That is infuriating.

I will say I would be an advocate of one type of fan shot. I would prefer to see the fans faces immediately following a score, so I don’t have to endure the end zone celebration nonsense. This is especially true for professional games. T.O. or Chad Johnson would be completely disempowered if their endzone antics were never televised.

Funny clip.

We were present in Hederson to watch the Utes take the Trojans apart on Christams day in Las Vegas a few years back. They’re for real.
