Guide dog owners pit bull terror
A blind man today told how he, his teenage son and his guide dog were attacked by an unleashed pit bull in the centre of Wolverhampton.
Kevin Lloyd was on his way home from work when the dog set upon his four-and-a-half-year-old dog Watson, which was pinned down and left with deep bite marks to his head and eyes. Mr Lloyd, 43, said he and Watson were rescued by staff from a bank as the pit bulls owner looked on from a bus stop.
I cant believe the owner had a dog like this loose, the Birmingham Midshires worker said. If it had been a smaller dog, or even a child, it would have been torn to pieces. I was walking through the city centre with my 19-year-old son Jonathon when the pit bull went straight for Watson.
We tried to drag it off him but it just kept on coming back and pinning him down. It was a really volatile and violent dog.
The owner was in a bus stop drinking beer with his mates. Staff from the Royal Bank of Scotland came to help us.
The attack happened in Princes Street at 1pm on Friday. Mr Lloyd, of Kent Road, Wednesbury, said: The dog bit Jonathon on the arm but luckily it didnt get through his winter coat. He later said it was the scariest thing that had ever happened to him.
Traumas like this can really affect guide dogs and even end their careers. Luckily, Watsons injuries were superficial but he was shaken by the whole thing. We are now looking after him at home.
Mr Lloyds MP, Tom Watson, said today said he was shocked and horrified to hear of the attack and called for immediate action to find the dog involved.
Mr Lloyds dog had teeth marks and cuts around his face, the West Bromwich East MP said. It is a shocking thing to happen to someone in a shopping area, and there should be a full inquiry.

Cue the pit bull lovers.
Bet he never saw it coming!
Here's a shocker.
Not all pit bulls are overly aggressive, but some people are intentionally breeding ones with that trait.
The breed as a whole may not deserve the bad reputation is has, but there are a lot of dogs of that breed that have earned such a bad reputation.
this is one of the few good uses for lawyers
sue the sh*t out of the people who own and don’t control dogs like this
Some drunken lowlife pit bull owner is basically judgment proof - he has no assets that can be collected again.
It happened in the UK, where there is no longer a viable right to self defense.
cue the idiots that judge things based on MSM reporting in 3, 2, 1....
In the U.S., an attack on a guide dog is a felony. If it happened here, the owner would be looking at serious time in a federal, pound-in-the-*ss prison. I know. I raise guide dogs for our local guide dog school. It’s a real shame if the guide dog is retired because of this. It costs $30-40K to raise and train one and the blind person becomes very dependent on the guide dog for mobility.
We also have a pit-bull mix of our own, in addition to the guide dog puppy we raise. They are playmates and the guide dog pup tires out the other dog very quickly. So it really is the owner who is the lowlife in this.
If this would have happened to my dog, this low-life would be scraping what’s left of his pitbull off the curb. I enjoy hunting pitbulls and have learned to dispatch them with a single blow....from my double barreled 410. Notice that there are none in my neighborhood....anymore.
If the owner objects, well I make him an offer that he can’t refuse......
Pit Bull Puppies are rarely vicious at birth. Occasionally one is born with a neurological dysfunction, but if bred for gentleness and brought up as a gentle dog, a Pit Bull makes a fine companion and a fine family dog.
I work in a Family run Kennel and we had a year old Pit Bull who had lived with the owner since he was 8 weeks old (and she had 10 other dogs, including a huge German Shepherd female). The Pit was adopted by a couple a few weeks ago. He is a very gentle dog. Not food aggressive. Great with children, cautious with cats. And he had a tenor bark (I said we neutered him too young and he turned into a tenor.)
Only this dog wasn't leashed. Take the Pit and sue the owner. And if the seeing eye dog can no longer work, the Pit's owner should have to pay for the replacement, as well as a fine for allowing his dog to run loose and for failing to stop the dog fight.
Yes, I'm an animal lover. I also loath dog owners who raise dogs to fight, as Michael Vick (former QB for Atl. Falcons) did. I'd have definitely given him more time in jail.
Well, assuming he’s got this bigass dog to make up for his own personal inadequacies, perhaps what there is of his “personal assets” should be removed and used to satiate the dog...
You should have just pinged me, Jeff.
I like to trap pit bulls and sell them to Vietnamese restaurants.
The last litter of pitbull puppies that I observed were spasming out and yelping like four legged retards on a white water trip, of course the bag they were tied up in was sinking pretty fast.
I'm sure you're a hit at cocktail parties.
