Okay, so I have some pretty left wing nut friends. Check that, I have some REALLY far left moonbatters that hit me out of the ball park with some of their emails to me. I generally laugh, file it under "idiots" and save the Code Pinko" cr*p or whatever for the day the scales are removed from their eyes and they see the light then I'll extort money from them until the end of days like a true Republican oil,WOT monger that I am

I was going to post this under political humor" but figured what the heck, let's get my FReepers to rip this little commie,socialist/marxist/demoRAT petition and see what ya'll thin. Me? I sort of like to keep my enemies( politically ) real close...oh yeah, I did not nor will I sign this.....sheesh, h#ll, I have a backbone and have the American Flag flying right side up in my front yard, not upside down with the surrender flag.

Please help me add to my answers so Ican return the whole thread to this person and let 'em know what real Americans think. Hmm, maybe I'll send this to Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity....

"Our democracy needs more independent voices in the media, not less. Congress must reverse the Federal Communications Commission decision allowing more corporate media consolidation."

Sign the petition For those of us who don't want a few big companies deciding what we see, hear, and read in the news, it's a bad day.

The Bush-appointed FCC voted yesterday to loosen media ownership rules so media titans like Rupert Murdoch can swallow up more local news outlets.1 They did this despite a huge public outcry—when the FCC asked for public comments, 99% opposed media consolidation! 2

The last thing our democracy needs is fewer independent media voices and more news outlets like FOX. Congress has the power to reverse this rule change, and a bipartisan group of 26 Senators already announced they'll try. 3 We need the rest of the Senate to know we're paying attention and we want action.

Can you sign this petition asking Congress to reverse the FCC's media consolidation decision—and forward this email to a couple friends who would care about this issue?

When we deliver thousands of petition signatures to Congress, we'll give Senators who are on our side something that they can use to convince their colleagues this issue is important and the public is paying attention.

For over 30 years, the rules prevented corporations from owning a newspaper and TV station in the same city. One goal was to increase the quality of journalism, which happens when news outlets compete. Another goal was to ensure diversity of voices—preventing FOX owner Rupert Murdoch from gobbling up lots of news outlets in the same place and controlling the political dialogue.

Murdoch already said that's exactly what he'll do.4 If yesterday's rule change by the Bush FCC is allowed to stand, that paves the way for more and more local news outlets to spread the same type of right-wing misinformation that we currently get from FOX—and consumers will have fewer and fewer alternatives.

The Bush FCC tried this once before, in 2003. Millions of Americans stood together and got that decision overturned.5 We can do it again now.

Thanks for all you do. –Adam Green, MoveOn.org Civic Action Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

P.S. Can you support our ongoing media reform campaign? As corporations spend millions lobbying for irresponsible media policies, MoveOn is consistently waging and winning people-powered media reform campaigns—such as fighting for Net Neutrality or against media consolidation. Our only funding comes from you, our members. A donation of $10, $20, or more will go a long way in taking our work forward. You can donate here: (creditcard link to commie move on)

Sheesh. They make such a stink about FOX. I don’t why? They have MSNBC/CNN/CBS/ABC. We have one station whose actually shilling for the liberal Giuliani, and they whine. Liberals want to silence the opposition - hence the fairness doctrine.

...as if Fox is actually some right-wing juggernaut. Hardly.

Actually, I’ve got some concerns about this bidness too. But the other way. I see the local liberal rag deciding to start buying up AM radio stations to shut down their critics in talk radio.

Not sure... and I understand the market will keep creating space for conservative talk radio, so probably there’s nothing to worry about.

Well, I recieved a reply from my "friend." Seems there should be no place for "Jewish sponsored" media that is so biased. My,my,my, and I thoughtmaybe these moveon.org folks were peace lovers and tolerant. I brought up yourpoint that ABC, MSNBC( Ted Turner multi-millionaire married to commie Hanoi Jane for years),CNN,NOW,BBC, CBS etc all have democartic slants so how can this organization that wants "THEIR" fair and balanced but refuses other sides of the story?

There is now a rift between us, ha ha, figures.Never heard of a fair and balanced moonbat.

Agreed. I like Fox because at least it gives an oppositional view of the Ueberroth’s of the world. Not to say FOX doesn’t have their own spin but no way am I going to sign a petition so we can have a purely “moveon.org, sponsored spin on every story in our local and cable news.

Liberals are only tolerant of people with whom they agree. I joke about “tolerance” because it’s really a load of bull.
