Mitt believers, is that headache you have just the hangover from last nights celebration or is it today's polls!
The "gold standard" poll of the Des Moines Register has Huck with a 6 point lead with two days to go!
Today's Zogby daily tracking poll has Huck building a lead for the past few days.
Huckabee has the "big mo".
I don’t think Des Moines Register is a very good polling source for the GOP caucus. They’re a bunch of leftists at DMR and they’re pretty good with the RAT caucus. But they have no idea how to sample, or even phrase the question to get an accurate picture from Republicans.
Nonetheless, if Huckabee wins Iowa and McCain wins New Hampshire, this whole thing will go so far up in the air that nobody on earth will have a clue where it is going to come down.
Both Mitt and Rudy figure conservatives will come to them in the end by attempting to scare the Right about Muslims moving into their neighborhoods.
Tennessee.
Huckabee goes bye-bye when the campaign heads into the deep south. Say hello to Fred.
These liberal Joe Isuzu Romney cultists are scary.
They’re gonna be in for a surprise. We ain’t votin’ for them. They can pound sand.
I see you are firmly behind the Taliban section of our party
I heard this before and didn’t believe it... but I’m starting too now. This frustrates me to no end. Keep the damn opinions away from the news, and quit biasing the news with overtones, and undertones, and inuendo.
Sure it's a cross? Might be just a bookshelf :-P
LOL!
Mitt’s flippant comments about his father marching with MLK reminded me just how opportunistic he is. For a while, I considered him to the alternative to Fred. Now I consider McCain to be my back up candidate should Fred quit after NH.
The last thing the GOP wants right now is a two front war in the General election, fighting the Dems one one side while expending almost as many resources having to convince several parts of the base that the nominee is OK over and over again to keep them on the reservation.
They also know that the top of the ticket effects donations to the rest of the state and local slates. Return on Investment is about to become a factor here, and Huck is actually helping with that...
I agree 100%!!!
He has benefitted more than anyone so far--from the "ANYBODY BUT GIULIANI OR MCCAIN" crowds' frustration at our choice in candidates.
There is only ONE poll that finds Huck ahead, and that’s the Des Moines Register, which used a new model, containing 40% Independent, when the usual indie number is about 19%. It also showed O’Bama way ahead, and that’s the only one that does. The situation is fluid. Nearly 1/2 of the GOP could change their minds, and this was taken before that ghastly ad stunt done by Huckabee. I think it will come down to organization, and Romney has a strong edge there.
IMHO Huckabee has already gone bye bye. He has served his purpose for the MSM by taking Romney down a notch. They have turned on him now and he will soon be just a memory. Romneys problem is he is no longer a shoe in for Iowa and has out spent everyone else ten to one. Even if he wins by a slim margin (which he very well may not) it will be an empty win and all the other candidates will gladly point that out. It really shows how weak a candidate he is. Romney suffers from his willingness to bend to every political wind. His supporters on this forum like to compare him to Reagan he is and never will be even mildly comparable to Ronald Reagan.
See my post #215.
IMO, expectations is what matters most. I’m not so concerned who WINS Iowa but who EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS.
I believe, in this sense, McCain or Thompson are being set up to be the real ‘winner’ of Iowa.
If either of those two beats expectation with a very strong third place, they may trump the headlines the next day.
“Forget someone elses rewritten history of every candidate..”
I can understand why you would want to forget the history of your guy, Mitt. But if we forget history then it’s liable to happen again. I guess you don’t have a problem with that do you? By the way, this is NOT “rewritten” history—it’s the record.
This below was posted to me by Diogenesis. Worth repeating.
“During the four years of Romneys tenure,
the number of registered Republicans in Massachusetts
fell by 31,000. During that same period,
the Massachusetts Democratic Party gained 30,000.”
- Boston Globe 11/2/2006
The Massachusetts Republican Party died last Tuesday.
The cause of death: failed leadership.
The party is survived by a few leftover legislators
and a handful of county officials and grassroots activists
who have been ignored for years.
Services will be public and a mass exodus of taxpayers will follow.
In lieu of flowers, send messages to New Hampshire Republican voters
warning them about a certain presidential candidate named Romney.
- Boston Herald, 11/12/2006
Romney arrived on the scene with great promise,
but is leaving the Republican Party here in shambles.
Not only are the Republicans yielding the governors office
for the first time in 16 years, but registered Republicans
have fallen by 31,000 since Romney took office,
and their legislative presence is at historic lows.
But it worked out fine for him:
He is now chasing the prize he really covets, the presidency.”
- Boston Globe 11/8/2006
From your home page: “...FREEREPUBLIC where I learned that it is wise and intelligent to: Assist in the removal of liars and deceivers from public office, no matter what party affiliation they might have. There is no rhyme, room, or reason for tolerating anything less than the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, from those we elect as public servants.”
Hmmm, do you really mean that?
Maybe you would prefer this one?

BTW, what idiot mother names her son “Mitt”?
