Why are you so enamored of the Huckster?

Good question. I think the reason why a FEW conservatives are enamored of The Huckster is they got blinded by his shameless bible thumping and overlooked everything else about him such as his many pardons for criminals.

Edited version:

The problem with athiests like you, you are incapable of seeing what is important. You are so blinded by your hate of people of faith, you can’t think straight. There is a God and guess what? He loves you!

except your fate!

Now that's a good one! And you didn't even mean it! Sort of like the Huckster!

I like to step back and look at all the candidates with eyes unencumbered by personal feelings. Mitt has always been THE candidate who comes out on top. Aside from his religion - and remember, we’re not electing a minister - this guy is clean, competent, qualified and credentialed.

Accept Mitt as the Republican nominee. It is our destiny.

On a lighter note, Mitt has hair and, he’s handsome, thus insuring the female and Homo vote...

But, don’t get me wrong. My real pick is Fred. But Fred is Fred. Too little too late...

Judging from the state of the Huckster’s family he should support heavier taxes on junk food than on cigarettes.

Uh, look at the internals: they weighted "independents" (which in all previous models account for no more than 19%) at . . .

40%.

In all other polls with the appropriate indy rating, Mitt still has a nice lead. Sorry to burst your New Year's balloon. The Huckster won't win this.

He already said he is NOT an atheist. You just made that assumption. Maybe you are so blinded by a shameless Huckster that you can't SEE his actual record. I noticed the same thing when a local supporter of The Huckster appeared on the Steve Kane show here in South Florida. Nothing Kane said about The Huckster's record registered with her. All she knew is that he was a religious "family values" type of guy and that was enough for her.

That is the problem with Huck, like a snake oil salesman,is nasty, snide and covering it in Christianity which works when one is not looking too closely.

It seems I learned in Sunday school or somewhere how wrong it is to call someone a liar. I am offended by Huck’s calling Mitt a liar, by his denying there was a cross...maybe not technically but everyone else seemed to see it, the stories of him getting even with people who disagree with him instead of having the ability to work with people, his flip flops on all except his prolife and progun stances. He wiggles just like ALL politicians do.

I like W has been a good leader who is Christian, though chunks of the left think it’s bad. W has turned the cheek at least daily to those that say nasty things about him. Huck is not of the same cloth....
I can see Huck out with his “did you stop beating your wife” way of speaking to those same people.

I don’t think Huck will come close to being the nominee. If he is I will vote democrat.

It's Mike Huckabee's record - big government, high taxes, benefits for illegals, unwarranted pardons. See his record in his own words at Huckabeefacts.org

I like Mike's Christianity but he's not even close to ready for prime time as CIC.

Could very well be. I can't see anything I like about his politics. Other than the fact that he's a Christian how could anyone look at his record and reconcile his actions with his words today?

He's clearly learned the politics of triangulation from the Clinton camp. However, in the day and age of sites like FR, he can't possibly think we are going to be taken into the triangle.

The strange thing here is that when his father, George Romney, ran for president in 1968, his Mormonism wasn't even an issue. He eventually lost the nomination but it wasn't because of being a Mormon.

BTW, I am noticing a lot of other artificial hangups springing up during the last few years. I am predicting that in about a dozen years there will be a big controversy because some candidate is a (GASP!) Mason. It will become a big issue despite the fact that many of our presidents, including the first one, was a Mason.

It’s over Mittbots.

Terry McAwful said the same thing about Jeb Bush a few days before he was re-elected as governor of Florida by a landslide.
