It is driving me crazy! Sounds like an early 80's song, synthesized music.

Are you talking about "My City Was Gone" by The Pretenders?

That's the music you hear at the top of every hour.

It has a synthesized sound, kind of like the sound that you hear in the song “Don’t You Want Me” by Human League. But a different beat.
And I am not a huge fan of this type of music, I just cannot get this song out of my head.

I heard Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” bump today. That’s pretty synthesizeristic.

No, it isn’t the main song.

It is usually played after the 2:00.

I WENT BACK TO OHIO
BUT MY CITY WAS GONE
THERE WAS NO TRAIN STATION
THERE WAS NO DOWNTOWN
SOUTH HOWARD HAD DISAPPEARED
ALL MY FAVORITE PLACES
MY CITY HAD BEEN PULLED DOWN
REDUCED TO PARKING SPACES
A, O, WAY TO GO OHIO

WELL I WENT BACK TO OHIO
BUT MY FAMILY WAS GONE
I STOOD ON THE BACK PORCH
THERE WAS NOBODY HOME
I WAS STUNNED AND AMAZED
MY CHILDHOOD MEMORIES
SLOWLY SWIRLED PAST
LIKE THE WIND THROUGH THE TREES
A, O, OH WAY TO GO OHIO

I WENT BACK TO OHIO
BUT MY PRETTY COUNTRYSIDE
HAD BEEN PAVED DOWN THE MIDDLE
BY A GOVERNMENT THAT HAD NO PRIDE
THE FARMS OF OHIO
HAD BEEN REPLACED BY SHOPPING MALLS
AND MUZAK FILLED THE AIR
FROM SENECA TO CUYAHOGA FALLS
SAID, A, O, OH WAY TO GO OHIO

My City Was Gone Lyrics
Artist: The Pretenders

This is the song he has played at the opening of his show since 1994 or so. If you’re talking about bumper music DURING the show, that’s another matter and will need more info, but happy to try to help.

Ok, it is probably “If you don’t know me by now.... then you will never ever know me.” A parody song by Paul Shanklin to McCain.

I haven’t listened to Rush in ages, but he used to play “Simply the Best” by Tina Turner, all the time, and it was usually around 2PM Eastern Time. It’s probably 1984 or so and is dancy and synthesized. Is that it, maybe?

I believe the song is "Golden Ticket" by Manchester Orchestra.

Haven't listened to Rush in a long time, but he used to play this lead-in: Heavy Fuel / Dire Straits

Some trivia about that song and Rush: He received a letter from The Pretenders about unfair usage. Turns out the letter was sent to him by some leftist outfit. The real Pretenders didn’t even know about it or even heard of Rush. They let Rush use the song on the condition he donate some money to PETA. ROFL!

It’s a shame that Rush doesn’t print the names of the songs that he uses on his website such as what Laura Ingraham does.
