Since it wasn’t a student that pulled this stunt, and the bus had no children on it, just what is your point?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The point is that we have a First Amendment Right not to be forced by the government to assemble with children from dysfunctional and violent “families” like these!

We have a First Amendment Right UNLESS it involves a government school! Then the government has the right to threaten the parent with police action if they refuse to subject their child to this girl and all the violence that comes packaged with that girl! There will be plenty of kids being assigned by government workers to “assemble” with this girl. But,,,some on this board will probably say that its good for them. ( A “diversity” and “tolerance” thing.) Government employees always know best, you see.

But,,,As I posted previously, some parents can still buy their child’s way out of the govenrment school prisons, and rescue their children from having to associate with girls from “families” like these. Some can homeschool. Some can privately school. I call it “freedom of conscience” ransom.

I'm not sure why this would fall under the label of abuse. Had a municipal bus driver refused her entry because of eating (as they would here in DC) and the mother and boyfriend went to shoot the driver, would you say that it was abuse for someone to use the public facilities?

Not attending a public school does not give a child some type of magic armor so that he/she is protected from all woes. Yes, violence happens at schools, but it also happens at private schools, shopping malls, churches, airports, playgrounds, sporting venues, fast-food restaurants....etc, and especially in private homes.

Any place where kids gather has the potential for violence. Marking this up to the fault of the public school puts you in the category with the liberals who say that if kids attended school in the summer they would be safe because they are off the streets and being watched. Neither is true.

Your abject hatred of anything and everything in regard to public schools has clouded your view.

What if this was a public transit bus, rather than a school bus? What would your position be then. What if it were a private school’s bus? Where I live private school transportation is the same as public school, bug yellow buses.

This situation has NOTHING to do with public school. It just happened that some jerk went off the deep-end and his target was a public school district bus -— that is ALL.

Gabz, do you really think the smart people here on Free Republic miss this debating ploy?

First you have essentially called me a hater, ( nice deflection, there!) and, second, you have completely ignored every point that I made!

My comments had nothing whatsoever to do with public transit, and my argument did not address violence in general on public buses or other public places.

My argument is about the First Amendment Right of the children of the other parents NOT to be forced by the government to socialize with a girl from a family this is flagrantly and violently dysfunctional!

And your argument has absolutely NOTHING to do with the issue at hand described in this article.

And you talk to me about ignoring points?

The situation here is NOT about public schools, nor about your interpretation of government force. Where is your Christian charity about the poor child who is being raised in this dysfunctional family?

They don’t have idiot parents who are going to shoot the school bus for not taking their kid.... Sorry, but you can try all you want, but public school is to education what public housing is to housing. THE ABSOLUTELY LAST CHOICE...to pretend its otherwise is denial.

How much you want to bet this mother and her bf are both products of the PBS?

I will tell you why this falls under the label of future abuse ( in this **particular** instance and this specific school.)

We have a First Amendment Right to Free Assembly!

The Oatmeal Girl is now **known** to be from a family that is highly unstable and even very violent. Every parent in that school now **knows** this. Every parent who sends their child into the sphere of influence of the Oatmeal Girl, her violently nutty mom, and “step-boyfriend” is taking a **known** and open risk.

If parents have any other alternative, and don’t take it, or make the necessary sacrifices, then I consider these parents negligent and abusive. ( This applies to this particular incident and this specific government school.)

Yes, violence occurs at private schools and elsewhere, but unlike the government school prisons, parents have every First Amendment Right not to allow their childern to assemble in those private venues. The opposite is true of the government school prisons. Unless the parent can ransom their child from the government, the government school prison workers **will** force the child to assemble, fraternize, and socialize with the Oatmeal Girl. I consider this abusive, government-forced, “socialization”!

Whereas the government does not **force** attendance at churches, malls, and public buses, ( at least not yet!) it can and **does** use threat of serious police action to force attendance at its government school prisons. **BIG difference!

In the private sector, parents are **free** ( Imagine that! Free!) to weight and measure the degree of risk they are willing to assume for themselves and their children. In the government school prison system, educrats and police **will** make that decision for them! To overlook the force involved, (regarding assembly with the Oatmeal Girl and her violent family), vs. normal everyday activity is like walking up to the edge of the “Grand Canyon of Government First Amendment Abuse” and somehow missing it!

And your argument has absolutely NOTHING to do with the issue at hand described in this article.

It has everything to do with FREEDOM. Police enforced government imprisonment ( mis-named "schooling") and freedom can not coexist.

Where is your Christian charity about the poor child who is being raised in this dysfunctional family?

Missionary work is NOT child's play. This family needs the help of mature, experienced, ADULT missionaries. Expecting other children to be missionaries in such a violent setting is abusive and dangerous for the children.

No where in the New Testament will read of Christ sending out children to be missionaries.

And you know this for a fact just how?

This article has absolutely NOTHING to do with public schools. This is about an idiot who was ticked a bus driver did not let his girlfriend's kid on the bus with food.

I seriously doubt anyone would be as up in arms about the non-issue of the ownership of the bus it if was just a city bus that didn't allow someone one with food. The discussion would be about the idiot that did it, or the overall mindset of the particular area where it occurred.

How much you want to bet this mother and her bf are both products of the PBS?

Not germaine to the article in question.

Nope, never said private school protects kids from all woes.

I said, subjecting your child to the public school system when you have the means to provide otherwise is child abuse.

Why should my childs education be compromised because the kid next to him cannot behave, and the school is too castrated to do anything about it? Why should my kid be sent to a school where children who have known behavior and mental issues attend because the school will not deal with them? etc etc etc....

Public schools are the absolute LAST choice, guaranteed education, not outstanding education.

They are the educational equivalent of public housing.

No, marking this up to the fault of public schools is exactly what it is. You see, you seem dilluded into thinking the only threats of a public school are violence (which are far greater in public than private schools, and trying to claim otherwise is ignorant).

Public schools greatest threat is simple... while violence, is higher, indoctrination is insanely higher... the biggest evil of the Public School is flat out mediocrity.

My child’s education is too important for me to sit there and know that the kid next to him is so ill mannered and prepared for school because of whatever issue, that my child and every other child in that classrooms education (not just safety or otherwise) is compromised. You can pretend this is not the case, but it is.

A kid shows up at my sons school and makes threats, they are expelled, no if ands or buts about it. They are Gone... there is no administrative hearing before the school board, no appeal for the parents who think their child is gods gift and it is their “RIGHT” that their violent or unruly child subject everyone else to their behavior. Kids whos parents who do their childrens homework for them as well, are GONE.

Putting your child in a dumbed down system, that says missing 4 out of 10 is still passing is not persuing excellence.

If you belive public schools are anything but the absolute last choice for educating your children, please go find me the enrollment numbers for our congressmen in DC for their children. Teachers don’t send their own kids to private schools for no reason... Politicians as well.

I will never fail to find amusing the folks who claim they are conservative, and want the government out of their health care, gladly send their children off for 8 hours a day to the government with a smile on their face, and when someone points out the rediculousness of it they try to call them the liberal.

WRONG. This article is about an idiot that went off the deep end, it has NOTHING to do with schooling.

Missionary work is NOT child's play.

No kidding? I asked about YOUR Christian charity, you, like showing a bit of compassion for this poor child.......

This family needs the help of mature, experienced, ADULT missionaries.

Actually I was thinking more along the lines of investigators looking into whether this child is being abused.

Expecting other children to be missionaries in such a violent setting is abusive and dangerous for the children.

I said NOTHING about other children, I was asking about YOU.

There is obviously a problem here and it is possible this child may well be in danger and all you care about is the fact she was on her way to a public school. Neither the ownership of the bus, nor the final destinatio of this bus is the problem here. The problem is the potential danger the idiot "boyfriend" poses not only to this child, but everyone else around.

The fact this was a public school bus means NOTHING here, why are you trying to make that the issue?

I am showing compassion. I am showing compassion for the children the government would force into missionary slavery!

Yes, I am showing compassion. This family and the girl **desperately** need the assistance of mature, experience, ADULT missionaries!
