My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and me...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Sara Teasdale, February Twilight
"I stood beside a hill
Smooth with new-laid snow,
A single star looked out
From the cold evening glow.
There was no other creature
That saw what I could see--
I stood and watched the evening star
As long as it watched me."

Gifts
Tell me, what is a world without wonder?
Would you want to get up every day?
For me, every day is a birthday gift,
And a new opportunity to play.
When I open my eyes in the morning,
Ive unwrapped my newest delight,
And all through the day I enjoy it,
Until I and my toy fall to night.

“Hey, poet are you okay, get the heat fixed yet??
Are you working on your manuscript - hope you are not ill.
Check in okay?’
Got heat back, and things are OK, just been busy. I’ve written a book in three days, and its been a trip. Its about comparing my life and values with life today, and civers a lot of things.
The chapters are;
Service (when service was normal, like the old gas station attendant)
School
The Black Sheep of the Family (yes I’m there)
Values
World Opinion (of America)
Holiday (and Holy Days)
Music
Cars
Jobs
Maturing passed acceptable limits (aging)
Appreciating
Humor
Shopping is like Directions (women will hate this one)
Handling disasters
Health Care Fiasco
Relocation Blues
BC to AC (Before Computers to After Computers)
Pets Weve Been Owned By
Summation by a Curmudgeon
It seems to be writing itself, and I’m going along for the ride, and its been a hoot.

A book in three days ...
Wait a minute! It took me a month to write ninety thousand words. Have you got one of those Kurzweil Mind-Reading Interfaces?
I thought they didn’t become available until 2017 ...
( didn’t, won’t ... time travel tenses are so confusing!)

Good morning everyone.
But let there be spaces in your togetherness and let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.

Hiya, Poet!!
My word, you have been busy burning up the pages. I really want to read this book! Way to go- just keep turning them out.
You mentioned the book is writing itself - WOW that is terrific.
Glad all is well at home base and that you and Nan have heat.
To: NicknamedBob
Well, that is thoughtful of you, thank you.

A pome, is a fruit, a sweet offering from nature
like Figs and Dates which are known as exotic
in flavor
A poem, is a fruit of another genre
it comes from the air without a sound
the tool is the human is soul,
open
to the movement of natures silent sounds
using the pen of ink from the soul.

Poet-Tree
One finds poems like leaves,
Strewn and sprawling in the path,
Fallen and scattered where they will.
Tiny garments, but if you do the math,
Somewhere the poet-tree stands naked,
Shivering and exposed to stares.
And all that it requires is a bit of warmth,
For buds to form, because somebody cares.

Very nice, I like the way your centering the poem shows the out line of a tree.
As a typesetter, I was taught the only use for centering is for poetry. Many people find it very difficult to read centered text, they claim, centering causes them to lose the beat of the poem. Or it confuses their eyes.
Flush left is used most often to help guide the reader’s eye.

The Point
I
do
not
know
where
people
determine
all the rules
of living with
each other.
They
dont
seem
like
they
keep
them
very
well.
Only
rules
which
live in
your
heart
will
help
you
love
your
brother.
All the
rest
seem
only
that
they
lead
you
both
to Hell.
I do not know where people determine all the rules of living with each other.
They dont seem like they keep them very well.
Only rules which live in your heart will help you love your brother.
All the rest seem only that they lead you both to Hell.

Try this, ... Shadows
A shadow
has two parts, you know.
The one above, the one below.
Within the shadow of a tree,
Toward the light heres what youll see.
A shaded part of tree is found, To join the part thats on the ground.
The joining of the two may be, Inseparable, like ground and tree.
But as the world
turns through the day,
The shadow starts
upon its way. To join
its cousins in the night,
And leave the clinging one in fright.
The world has turned its face away,
From that bright light
that we call day.
The darkness that
befalls thereon.
Will stay until the break
of dawn. The night is shadows
fearful half, The other part leaps with a laugh,
Out where it dwindles to a dot, Evaporating on the spot,
Unless the moon has ventured in, As round the Earth it does its spin.
The shadow is a twin at birth, Even when its mothers Earth.
With one that clings close to its mother, And one that flies away from brother.
Its journeys length always depends,
On what befalls before it ends.

This is just fabulous! Wonderful poem, and the trick with the light text for the daylight verse, then the black text for night, just so fine.
This poem is especially delightful to me. It is a fine piece of work. Clever, inventive, playful, serious, deep and lite all in one.
You should enter this in a competition, really you should.
BOB, may I enter this in The Lair Anthology?

Check your FReepmail.
No, it would be entered under your nickname.
I mean, if you don’t wish for it to be in the Lair Anthology that’s fine with me, it is up to the poet.;0)
You are such a prolific writer it hard for me to remember the poems you post in The Lair. The link details your having posted this poem in the Lair a few years ago -which is fine by me. ;0)

Nope, this 200 page book is only 31,247 words, but its likely to create at least and easy 31,000 arguments and that is just what I like best of all!
I won’t even tell you how long it took to write my 100,000+ first book for the fantasy trilogy (I chipped it in stone as I didn’t have a computer or paper yet)

Sorry to interrupt this global love fest, but I just finished this, and I wanted to get it posted right away.
Carbon Footprints
Weve left a lot of footprints,
In walking all about.
That muddy ditch just didnt seem,
To want to let us out.
Then getting past the darkling seas,
Was also quite a trek,
Though sandy beaches still evoke,
The feeling, What the Heck!
It was in heading northward,
Our fate became enmeshed,
With bonfires for our vanities,
And for the way were fleshed.
Without a warming pelt, you see,
We had to borrow some.
We got it as a dinner gift,
Dont ask us where its from.
The borrowed sunlight we uncorked,
Made many a cheerful eve,
And sunwarmth glowing through the night,
Sustained us, I believe.
I fear we made a mess of things,
The cave floor was a fright.
The darkness we left scattered there,
Was but the ash of night.
And though we left some footprints,
Were not the only ones,
We followed a fiery pillar,
And smoke across desert suns.
Fire even came with instructions,
From a bush on a mountain top,
So, though we leave carbon footprints,
By God! We arent going to stop!
