Everything, furniture, kitchen & bathroom cabinets, flooring. I’m not sure how it works though. I like to look at the actual product before I buy.

We assumed that since there was no payment made, the memebership is not valid. Just today, I opened a mail from a Law Office who handles legal business matter of Direct Buy. The letter was demanding us to pay the membership or else they Direct buy will file a lawsuit against us. Direct Buy is making it sound like we owe them the full amount of $4,500 for the whole 3 year contract. I felt like we are being "ripped-off" If there is any class action against this company, please contact me.

Wow!
Just wow...

I must admit to being intrigued by Direct Buy commercials, and planning to call their 800 number one day.

The chances, after reading this thread is now zero.

But here is what puzzles me. That group has been advertising for years; commercials pop up almost daily. How can they operate that long without already having a class action suit against them in the pipeline? That would be the beginning of the end. Bad publicity like the information in the link is the kiss of death.

That is the other puzzler... if they themselves are so inclined to threaten legal action as the result of their high pressure scam, why do most people simply roll over?

Is there a good attorney out there reading this?

As a general rule, you should be very hesitant to give your business to any company that advertises on talk radio. There are scams galore out there, and all those talk radio hosts that we love and respect are willing to sell their souls to the highest bidder when it comes to advertising.

Do you remember those ads for Cortislim? Bill O'Reilly and Laura Ingraham were plugging it all the time—it was the weight loss pill for "thinking people" (yeah, right). It was also completely bogus.

One of my favorite talk show hosts is constantly doing pitches for "NatureBee", a worthless snake-oil pill that supposedly gives you endless energy, makes you healthier, improves mental acuity, and all that typical snake-oil nonsense. It's very disappointing.

Fred Thompson is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life.

Were you aware that the PAC that was stirring up all the social conservatives’ ire, was funded by a McCain friend, Carl Lindner, not a Huckabee friend? McCain used the evangelicals to knock out all the competition? When Huckabee asked them to stop the negative push polls, they changed the name of the PAC to, Trust Huckabee. I still wonder if Huckabee was in on the scheme.

Without being argumentative, I've gone against the grain here quite a few times without being banned. I even challenged a mod to ban me one time. Never happened. It could be luck of the draw or cause I'm so cuddly.

They don’t sale anything, they make buying arrangements. 1st rule, if it sounds to good to be true it is.

Pardon my ignorance, but what does Direct Buy sell?

Go to the link and read all the complaints. They are all very detailed.

As far as I can see they sell a combination of extortion and "bait and switch"...

I expected more from talk radio suggesting companies but then again I’m reminded, buyer beware and thank God to the internet for giving out a warning.

I can’t believe the number and passion and current dates of those warning us.

The other day Laura mentioned in an off-hand manner that she was getting ready for a flight and told Matt? Steve? to make sure that you pack “my BOSE in-flight, noise cancelling headphones, ‘cause you know I never fly without them.” Shows you what she thinks of the intelligence of her own listeners.

There's a scam artist joke in there somewhere.

Hi pajt,

We’re getting ready to see our grandsons for dinner.

And you are right, we are very early risers.

I hope we’ll stay away for dinner. LOL

I used to love to go to those “free” vacations for time shares. The shlub in the salesroom would always tell you about the timeshare swap programs, where you can swap your Myrtle Beach week for a week anywhere in the world.

Then they would try a Sales Close: “Is there anywhere you would like to vacation?”

I would enthusiastically reply, “Absolutely. One of my life goals is to vacation in the Galapagos Islands.”

“Would you buy our time share if we can show you that in our book of timeshare swaps?”

“Oh yeah. I’d go to Galapagos every year”, I’d reply.

Then the shlub began thumbing through his book, confident he will find somebody with a timeshare in Galapagos to swap. Eventually he would ask, “Where are these islands?”

I would describe the documentaries of the marine iguanas, etc. That would sometimes ring a bell with the shlub, and he’d start thumbing through his book again.

Eventually, he would get the other shlubs, and the manager shlub looking for Galapagos. I would sit there politely smiling. There are no buildings in Galapagos. The Chilean government and the UN monitor all visitors to Galapagos closeley. Nothing that will disturb the fauna is tolerated.

I would eventually leave, “disappointed” they couldn’t match me up with a timeshare in Galapagos. I’d tell them to call me if one ever showed up.
