PUBLIC OUTCRY LEADS TO PETITION OF CONGRESS FOR ST. PATRICK’S DAY NATIONAL HOLIDAY RECOGNITION

National survey results suggest millions believe St Patrick’s Day should be a national holiday

New York (February 14, 2008) - In response to overwhelming public sentiment, the makers of Guinness, the world’s most famous Irish stout, are supporting Proposition 3-17, a national effort to make St.Patrick’s Day an officially-recognized holiday in the United States.

I guess if you bought a Guinness stout too, Diageo would be happy.

No. Then we’ll get stuck with Cinco de Mayo, Bastille day, and all the other non-holidays I have to wade through.

As a Polish-American, I demand the same for Pulaski Day.

As a full-blooded Slav, I demand that Hunky Monday, which is always the Monday after St. Patrick’s Day, also be recognized.

Everyone would be required to eat halubki and halushki, and would have to wear purple. Anyone who refuses to do this would be branded “Not A Team Player” in his or her Permanent Record.

Come to Chicago. It’s a city (maybe a state too) holiday.

Saint Patrick's Day? Impossible. That would violate the Separation of Church & State mandated by our Living Breathing Document.

If Guinness Brewery really understood what goes on on St. Patrick's day, they'd make the day after St. Patrick's day a national holiday.

Only if it’s a total holiday, no work, no school, no nothing, just like Christmas!

There ya go! Green beer doesn't look that appealing when it's sitting in a porcelain bowl the next morning. Like New Year's Eve, I've always considered this as another amateur day.

Totally racist. A white Saint, from a white European country, mostly celebrated by white people! Good grief. Next thing you know, someone will want a White television network, a White Miss America pageant, a Whites only college fund.
