DETROIT (AP) - Kwame Kilpatrick, a one-time rising star in American urban politics who embraced his "Hip-Hop Mayor" image as Detroit's youngest elected leader, was charged Monday with perjury and other counts after sexually explicit text messages surfaced that appear to contradict his sworn denials of an affair with a top aide.

Beatty isn't the mayor. Kilpartick is.
Democrat only appears once in the article, which is lenghty. And it is in regardes to Gov. Granholm.

Kilpatrick ain’t never gonna be found guilty of anything.
Since he will have a jury of his “peers”, it’s gonna be hung jury after hung jury.
To: Westlander
I have to give it to the AP, it didn't omit The Mayor party affiliation.
Gov. Jennifer Granholm has not called on Kilpatrick - a fellow Democrat - to resign, saying that the legal case involving the mayor needs to run its course
Buried way way way down in the article.

You give them too much credit.

It’s a felony for a Democrat to lie under oath about sex? I thought they changed that.

The real issue is the police officer who was forced out and the cover-up that followed.
This is much more about abuse of government power by elected officials than it is about sex. I hope that the media gets things in focus more.

"Name that Party"... Took until the 46th paragraph to learn he was a Democrat.
If he had been Republican, it would have been in the headline and the first paragraph.
