The former Massachusetts Governor and recent Republican presidential candidate will "bring his unique views as both a politician and business leader to the microphone" - and will be getting up extra early, to handle that first Paul Harvey show, as well as the "midday visit." ABC Radio Networks says former KVIL/KLUV, Dallas personality Ron Chapman will still handle the bulk of the fill-ins for Paul Harvey - whom it says is due for cataract surgery, after recovering from pneumonia. Harvey's an amazing 89 years old, and is now scheduled to return to his usual Chicago-based microphone on Friday, April 25.
At least they got Mitt “His Hair Was Perfect”* Romney to
fill in. Imagine the other former MA governors they could have had:
—Mike Dukakis, national model...good jobs at good wages...
zzzzzzzzzzzzz
—Paul “You Talkin’ To Me?” Cellucci (Still disappointed
his man Rudy fell short)
—Jane “I’m in a Firing Mood” Swift
—William “Pink” Floyd Weld (dove into Charles River
fully clothed to show how clean it was; author of
such spellbinders as “Mackerel By Moonlight” and
“The Big Ugly”)
*—line from Werewolves of London
Harvey’s program can’t be heard in Boston as his previous affiliate,
WTTT, went all Spanish
This is like Robert Tilton fill in for Billy Graham.
This is like having Robert Tilton fill in for Billy Graham.
Willard in for Paul, well, the liberals and the liars will be happy.

Thats one reason former presidential candidate Mitt Romneys filling in today, and why Ron Chapman will continue getting up most other mornings until late April. ABC Radio Networks makes a nice celebrity booking with Romney, and it plays up both his business success (he founded Bain Capital) and political career. Romney hasnt announced much in terms of his post-candidacy plans, and the visibility with Paul Harvey listeners will help his image. Doing radio should be an interesting media test for Romney, whos been defined so much by his striking appearance on the tube. (Quick: can you recall what his voice alone sounds like?) Meanwhile, ABC confirms that Paul Harvey has now recovered from his recent pneumonia. (T-R-I told you last week that hed been recuperating at his place in Arizona and was due to return to Chicago wit h his wife Angel last Friday.) Now Pauls ready for cataract surgery, which is not unusual for an 89-year-old. Hes been hosting a regular news and commentary show for ABC Radio since 1951.
