Another Carteret County woman has been charged with having sex with a teenager.
Katia Johnson of Broad Creek was arrested today on a charge of statutory rape by Carteret County deputies and Morehead City police.
The 21-year-old Johnson is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old boy in January.
Johnson is in jail on a $25,000 bond.
Just two months ago another Carteret County woman was charged with raping a 13-year-old boy.
I wonder if this Mrs. Robinson syndrome is more prevalent today, or just more frequently reported?

In the meantime, I don't know if there is a rash of these cases or if the glorious return of Puritanism to this country and criminalization of sex make it seem like a rash. In any event, do you think that feminism or rather post-feminism (when feminism is already in the bloodstream) explains it all? I mean, women wanting to be in complete control and with 15 year old kids they are, but with adult men they are uncertain how to act any more, and would sooner make accusations of sexual harassment than to submit themselves to a traditional romantic relationship! (Been there.)

I don’t see how they can feel in control in a situation where if the kid says one word to the wrong person they go to the pokey. As they used to say about jailbait, “15 will get you 20.”

True, but these are crimes of passion, if they are crimes at all, and in crimes of passion the criminal does not calculate the risks and consequences like professional criminals do (according to economist Gary Becker, at least.)
Meh. I’ve seen worse. I know there’s one poor kid out there whose older partner looked strikingly like she could be the twin sister to Milton from “Office Space”. I’m not kidding. Truly, I wish I were.
