Surprise! Toby Keith Likes Clinton and Obama

Despite Toby Keith's past public support of President George W. Bush and his famous post-Sept.11 song, "The Angry American (Courtesy of the Red White and Blue)," this year the country star says things have changed.

Keith, who in the past has said he's a Democrat but was unhappy with the party's candidates, now can support the current contenders for the nomination.

"I'm real happy that there are two candidates that people can get behind," he told PEOPLE at the CMT awards Monday. "I feel like there are two people now – with Hillary [Clinton] and the time she's spent," he said of the former first lady and current New York senator.

Toby lost it with me when he came out with the "I Wanna Talk About Me" song, the worst country song since a certain Billy Ray Cyrus song(at least until recently with Tim McGraw's covering of a forgotten Eddie Rabbit 70s hit--there was a reason why "Suspicions" was forgotten...)

Don’t scoff too soon.

The DCX (Dixie Chicks) and Toby Keith will do a public affairs spot together on the dangers of global warming. Al Gore’s foundation will fund the commercial.

And Al Gore’s Current TV.com says it’s true:

Hasn’t ever changed his position. Always thought the war was wrong. He is one of those Democrats that “support the troops” Before you flame, research.

“Next he’ll be touring with the Dixie Chicks.”

He might as well, I’m going to tell everyone he did anyway.

Damn, just damn.

Hillary and Obama aren't troops. Why praise them when they don't deserve it? If he really likes Hillary and Obama as much as he says, he's not just a Democrat. He's a left-wing wacko of a Democrat.

Can’t say I’m shocked. Anyone who would stick that awkward “boot up the yin yang” phrase in a song has to be a bit “off.” It sounded like something a light-in-the-loafers San Franciscan would write in an effort to come off like a redneck. In the midwest the correct phrase would have been “I’ll kick your *ss,” or “I’ll ‘whup’ your *ss.”

Isn't this the guy who sang a warm and fuzzy song about an old road on which he learned to drive, banged girls out of wedlock and on which his dad dumped their trash... as if this was respectable to country people and worth glorifying?

Come to think of it, he does sound like ol'Bitter Obama.

C’mon, did anybody think Toby Keith actually has a deep understanding of politics or anything else requiring a nominal level of mental acuity?

“But Keith is keeping an open mind about the election. “I think [John] McCain is a great option too. I think we’ve got three great candidates running.”

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard anyone say. It’s the exact opposite of what most people say. Most people think we have three of the worst candidates running! I used to love Toby Keith...thought he was pretty smart but this changed my mind. No more Toby in our home! He should stick to writing music because it’s obvious he doesn’t know a darn thing about politics!

Toby is just bitter, clinging to his love of guns.

This can be good news, as it will show once again how country music fans have BRAINS and will not blindly follow the idiotic ramblings of even their brightest stars.

Toby put out some great tunes, and he was dead on right when he supported conservatives. Hillary and Obama SUCK, though, and no amount of promotion by TK will make me vote for them.
