The same was said about The Man through his career, and especially after he wrecked LaBonte at Bristol... some still hate Sr for that.

I watched that replay a thousand times, and still think Texas Terry got screwed. I don't think it rose to the level of "intentional wrecking," though; The 3 was good at a tap like that, and good drivers could handle it, although they'd lose a lot of spots.

Tonight's wasn't "a tap like that," but a full-on front-quarter-to-side-panel shot, and couldn't have been ridden out without a wreck. Shrub put Junior in the wall with a move clearly calculated to put him in the wall, and that's a foul.

I just hope Junior doesn't start driving like Buschette in response, even if it's the only way to get the points. I hope he's got more class than that, even if Helton is opening the door for demolition derbies.

I know Busch has a bone to pick with Junior -- Earnhardt's driving his Hendricks ride. They should settle it by the same rules, though. You'll note that Junior didn't put him in the wall when he went by him, and I'll note that he'd almost certainly have lost points it he had.

I'll grant that the issue is arguable and nothing either of us says will decide. I just hope the sport isn't compromised by the sort of driver Kyle Busch has shown himself to be, wheeling the talent of the greats with the ethics of a South Congress sidewalk slut...

Makes Tony look like a Saint?

Finally, a brief respite. Thank you Tork. I can relax and have a beer now that the bar has somewhat emptied. I'll tell ya straight up, and after being your good friend for a few years and all, I really hope this won't disrupt our agreement to quit sending email threats to each other, and signing each other up for Greenpeace contribution lists and such... but yes, I'm a Tony Stewart fan.

So take me off your Christmas card list, quit pinging me to threads, shun me if you must, but I must in all honesty let you know... I wear an orange hat, I own Husky tools, and damn, but those bratwurst just outside the doors are wonderful.

That reminds me... I need to go to the depot for some furnace filters in the morning. I'd best get some sleep. You look a bit Haggard yer own self, Merle.

Busch has done a remarkable job this season without a Hendricks ride. Why should he care?

The old man admitted he wanted to bump Texas Terry out of the way, but didn't want to wreck him. I believe that. Lots of folks don't... and you're right, LaBonte got screwed. It wasn't good for Big E, either.

You don't have to worry about Jr becoming jaded, he's going to be just fine. Just my prediction.

I appreciate discussing it with you. Look back at the threads over the years, and we Nascar fans can be a fairly impetuous group, eh?

Time will tell. Hell, I might even develop a liking for Gordon over time.

Or not.

I just like NASCAR.

People ask me who I root for.

My answer is, whoever I have in my two pools this week.

Hey there Nork. Ya got to admire this gang. We didn't lose a pitcher or even a glass over this. Beer sales went through the roof. Even those cigars sold well! Er, you had them by the register to sell, didn't ya?

I've seen the occasional biker bar become kinda boisterious, but ya know, I never had one explode on me... and tonight was no different. Hopefully, we won't get a brick through the front window overnight, and probably the best thing to come out of this is that people will start watching closer. I hope I didn't stir up anything. I guess I've got my own opinions, but so do all of us.

You didn't miss much... it'll all be in the sports news. Nothin worse than Big E takin out LaBonte at Bristol. Or maybe the Watts riots.

On the up side, we got all of the lawn furniture out of the pool that grammie threw in there, and only submerged one Harley. Here's the keys... glad to see ya back boss.

Hey there WS... thanks. We made it though another race I think. Not too much damage to Nork’s Beer & Donuts 4 Dummies. Maybe a couple of bruised sensitivities, but we’ve seen worse, eh? I’ve gotta say, there were some folks beginning to think this was a dull race. Heh.

On to the Lady in Black, and hopefully we can keep the beer pitchers out of the wide screen.

maybe Nascar Sprint cup should just be renamed....Dale Jr. championship race....geesh.....

I don't think Sprint would allow it since they are the ones who are picking up the tab for the series. It's a good idea though.

Proof again about the blind squirrel / nut thing.

I had fully intended to run Hamlin and (gasp) JPM off their qualifying. I guess I either hallucinated making the change or Yahoo belched.

Waaaah! Nobody is out there trying to kill anyone. You 88 fanboys are pitiful. I guess those armchairs have brake pedals...

Racing is a dangerous sport, made safer with technology. BUT, it is still RACING!

I am a diehard Mark Martin fan. I was pulling for #11 'cause it was home, and a second win would make him a home town hero, extraordinaire.

It's fun to watch, but it's just theater... and there are a few things more important than DE,Jr and his getting into a situation leading to this wreck. Kyle is fun to watch, and he must be doing things right, somewhere!

Agreed, but trying and causing are entirely two different things.

My guess it will be a driver in the Nationwide Series.

Time to start a pool?

Waaah, again?

. Tony Stewart is more likely to wreck someone... and we cannot forget dale SR!

Jr. got himself wrecked by racing with a better, or at least, more aggressive driver. That is why Kyle is points leader and Jr is looking for a win. I think winning comes by being first to the finish line! That is racing!

The Bush Boyz:

If it isn't one of them, it's the other.

If it isn't one thing, it's another.

What talent they might have is always over-shadowed by their arrogance, self-righteousness, flippant and smug attitudes which are as much a part of them on the track as off.

Nay, Tony or one of his pit crew is more likely to be taken out by one of the Bush brothers.

It runs in the family.

Well, that describes most of the NASCAR driver field. I will except my man, Mark Martin. No finer gentleman has ever steered the wheel of a race car!

Jeff Gordon, or Tony Stewart, come first to mind, with your descriptives. The opposite can be said for most of the Roush crew. Carl Edwards is another gentleman, but don't get in his way!

"Who will be the first driver that Kyle Bush kills?"

It will probably be just the opposite. And, I will add if DW and Fox don't stop promoting that idiot he is going to hurt somebody. They keep excusing his on track incidents [aka win at any cost] by comparing him to Dale Sr. OMG, he is not even close to having the respect and EARNING the respect Dale Sr did. He was a man, he was a GOOD man. Puny punk is a jerk with an ego as big as his nose.

NO wobble before the front tires turned to wreck Jr
