Teams were pretty well matched. I can only imagine how hungry and exhausted they were after that. Hey, I was hungry and exhausted just watching.

Today, I watched the short interview with Morrow after the final goal and he was way way beyond ready to sit down :o)

Thanks for the report Captain.

We love on scene race reports.

I will have the Darlington thread ready sometime tomorrow or the next day. It will be my last one. I’m pretty much done with the nasty posts on the FR Nascar threads. It’s come to the point where it isn’t fun anymore.

I seem to have caught the eye of someone over at Infield Parking, so I will be working on stuff for them. And, YES I can use Jr and #88 stuff without getting flak. It is HIS site after all. :D

Teams were extremely well matched! I would have loved to see the Stars come out and slam them, but this made for a far better game. I thought I’d just make it to the end, then turn out the lights. Yeah right, they not only won the game, they clinched the series! Was ready to crank up the TV, but at 1:30 in the morning, I don’t think that would have been very well received from the next room. LOL

I would say you got real value out of that $110 per ticket. I think it cost my son $140 per for a similar set up for the inaugural at Vegas he and I went to and it was several years ago...

My particular friend, Dr. Maturin, wouldn't know turn 1 from turn 4 or even the start from the finish, for that matter. But he would have enjoyed that magnificent flying machine with the lights and propellers and “Goodyear” painted on the side.

A glass of wine with you, sir.

I got to two races a year: $90 to $110 per ticket.

I go to the Metropolitan Opera once a year: $220 a ticket.

I buy a bottle of Brunelo of Montalcino several times a year: $80 a bottle.

Sometimes the best things cost some money. But I have never felt I over paid.

I’m having second thoughts about the price of the Vegas tickets as I think the $140 price was the second year when we sat in the stands. The first year was in the VIP box and included open bar and all the food you could eat and $340 comes closer to it. He won a on line lottery to purchase those. That is how he and his sister also got 4 tickets to Bristol a couple of years ago...

Good luck! The fun part has faded for many it seems. I’m sorry a few prefer to jam others and miss why we started this thing.

We’ll divvy up the rest of the races.

Thanks for all your work and fun times here and the not so fun times as well and best of luck in the future.

Don’t forget us and post here if you can stomach running the “gauntlet”. ;-)

we didn’t post a disclaimer on any threads this year, well, maybe one or two.. looks like we may need to.. Shrub seems to bring out the worst in some folks like his brother and smoke and others before them did. Oh well. ;-)

Yeah. I'd imagine that's about all we'll see of them two...unless there's another incident where they can come in and dump on someone just to troll. They don't care about racing as much as they care about trolling, or else they would post on these threads more often, not just when they can "neener neener".

I've watched racing for a long time...it's funny that everyone says that Dale Sr wrecked people to win...how many incidents can anyone name when he did that? I can think of only two incidents which doesn't seem out of line with most other winning drivers, including Mark Martin who just wrecked Carl Edwards a few weeks ago to win. Rusty did it, DW did it, Gordon wrecked 4 cars in 4 different incidents in one Sears Point race to win...they've all done it but Dale Sr has the reputation for it because he liked to rattle cages more often...he rattled a lot of cages but I don't think he put that many in the wall.

We try to keep the thread off the personal assaults and jabs path, hope you don’t mind me saying that.

Seems that line was stepped over and over again with personal attack posts & pictures that should not have been allowed to stay on this thread.

Even more significantly, there was apparently little defense of WCG or her honor by the regular contributors here. That is shameful in my view. She has been a strong and regular contributor on our NASCAR threads, including the host of many races -- including this thread. I was out of town for this race, as stated early on here, but believe me I would have defended her during the race if I had been around.

Sure, like me, WCG is a strong partisan in favor of Jr but there is certainly nothing wrong with that, is there? Like it or not, Jr is the most popular driver in NASCAR and not by a small margin.

Hope you don't mind me saying that...

So, can I assume this post was directed at some of my postings? It sure seems apparent to me. I will try and address things.

If you have something to say about me, direct your post to me. I did nothing "shameful! It may have been bad taste, according to some, but you are a little over the line. I, too, am a NASCAR fan.

I responded when Kyle was being nailed as a dastardly little boy, with no scruples (I paraphrase, of course), because he got into a tussle with Jr, and won. As previously stated, I like Kyle, as much as any other driver. I like his spunk. I am a Ford man, and a Mark Martin Fan. I saw them "racing".

I was poking fun at those folk who can't take a poke, evidently. I didn't post anything worse than what you may see on TV. I don't think I said bad things about WCG, or any other posters. I even had the mods pull MY OWN POST, because I didn't want to cross that line. One of your leaders called me down, in a private message.

I am sorry, if I offended. You have a clique. I am sorry I came in the door. Shut it next time... or let the good times roll!!!

Don’t mind your comments at all, voxfreedom, Well said.

I was asleep thru the whole thing and Im still swaying to wave motion even tho I’ve home 3 days.

I encourage the individual posters to step up and hit the
Abuse Button when they deem appropriate. The Mods are more than happy to make the call, and if enough folks do it , we shouldn’t have to have the descent into petty comments repeated as it was.

I have asked twice to have a few of the pics and comments removed, even counseled a couple of folks about their posts and asked that folks take it offline if they want to whack othhers.

I will let what is still up short of the pic posts to stand as a standard that won’t be tolerated in the future.

If people want grab-ass posting rights , then do it elsewhere, we have tried to keep the race thrads out ofm the weeds for years, and for the most part have been successful.

WCG has endureed more than her share of abuse for being a diehard fan. at least she has been respectful, but I do not denigrate her for giving a lick or two back.

Let the thread be a lesson for those whom would use it as one. for those who use it as a trash dump, you have been warned.

And I might add, of folks want me to move on as a few might for any number of reasons, just let me kow, offline or on the thread. I can take and I will give itm series thought.

If you have something to say about me, direct your post to me.

It was directed to you. Didn't you see your name in my addressee list?
If you pulled "your own post" you must have felt that particular one was out of line. Thanks for the admission. There were more than one.
If "One of (my) leaders called (you) down, in a private message" it was called for.

I didn't say anything about your NASCAR fan-ism. That didn't have anything to do with the issue at hand.

My above post was sent to others for the obvious reason that WCG is a friend and deserved support and defense as any of them would have expected if attacked in the manner you portrayed. And no, it wasn't "poking fun." Your pics in particular were rude and insulting. No, it isn't "a clique," it is, however, about acceptable behavior and respect.

I’ll accept your offering, we have had others in the past who let it rip, some who were a bit too aggressive post-wise or who wanted to go gonzo on the thread and didn’t care who they bump drafted into the wall.

The person this needs to be addressed to is the one you laid it on innocently or otherwise. ;-)

It may be too late, but it’s the thought that counts. :-)

So, now you accuse me of thinking? /sarc

Sorry, if I offended, but racing brings out the competitive spirit in all of us! I have thick skinned friends, and we toss it constantly.

I don't put weight toward any driver. I watch, because it is entertainment. I go to races nearby, but missed this RIR May weekend. I ended up out at my cabin behind the mountain, planting a garden. Food prices aren't gonna scare me, as much as the inability to get things. The cost of bringing them to us is what will hurt.

Have a nice week. I'll be watching... and try to keep my mind engaged, if I am allowed back. I'll attribute it (partially) to the Glenfiddich clan! I'll stick with the Kentucky crew!

It's a clique. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Opinions are along the same lines. They are subject to our own interpretation. Kyle won the duel. Junior was aiming at the same goal. Neither got to the finish line first! Junior fans were incensed. Too bad. I was just making a remark.

Clique

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Clique (disambiguation).

A clique (IPA:/'klɪk/ in America, /'kliːk/ elsewhere) is an exclusive group of people who share common interests, views, purposes, patterns of behavior, or ethnicity. A clique is a subset of individuals from a larger group, who are more closely identified with one another than the remaining members of the group, and who exchange something among themselves, such as friendship, affection, or information.[1]

A clique has an informal structure, and it is composed of more than two people. All the members of the group have some type of relationship with one another, and thus the group is tightly knit together as a type of social network.

Straight up, I got a few things to share for you and all who will read the thread. It goes back over 6 years here at FR.

We supported our troops then, we support them now.

WCG , Glock , NYTexan , steveegg, pete-r-bilt and a couple others have taken it upon themselves to post these puppies every week during the season and WCG ran a Withdrawal thread during the time-off racing season.

You can go back in time to the day Earnhardt died, and the squabbles about him before and after his time, we kicked a folk or two off becuz they could’t rein it in or felt so strongly over events and such, it wrecked the threads flow and intent, actually we exercised our option to ask them to move on as personal attacks and all the taunting and insults were not conducive to the threads or the spirit they were started in.

You may be an adult and you may not be a bully but you need to know when to let it go here. We are a community as is FR and being taken out behind the wood shed is not a cliquish thing here, albeit most do survive, but a few don’t or choose not to.

I could care less if you come back, frankly. The loss of WCG hurts folks who have kinown her here the last few years but we’re adults (not “little girls”) and Buddies die side by side in battle during times of war, and so do racers once in a while. So your loss would not stop me from doing what I been doing for going on 7 years, the length of time following 9/11. But you are who you are and if you keep it civil, I’ll let you take another run at the wall if you so choose. ;-)

also, WE all have passions, some are not as easily shared by all when they burst forth but we live with it, when it gets in yur face or such... Nor ought they cast aspersions on others without knowing the person a wee bit. Some of us have been here a long time and hate it when newbs go for the jugular.

Nope, wouldn’t miss ya at all, there will be others tho, I’m sure, some more tempered, some not so that will get in the flow.

I started this particular race thread for no other reason than supporting our troopsm and providing coverage of the races and the racers, and have always tried to keep it clean, have some fun and toss the day-bree in the back of the pick-up when the race was done.

Nope, we’re just Moms and Pops , vets and 4Frs, .. clique? hardly.

Sorry if you feel that strongly to post definitions, but I guess in a way that defines you too, huh?

I guess I’m just old school.

Above all, decorum.

Now, back to racing.. a kinder gentler sport.. (GHWBush-)
