Like a scene from Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, large groups of ravens are flocking together to attack defenceless victims and eat them alive.
Throughout the country, farmers have reported a rise in the number of calves, lambs, and sheep pecked to death. Animals not killed have been left in agony as the birds eat their eyes, tongues and the soft flesh of their underbelly.
Farmers are demanding the right to destroy the protected birds, but the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds says it does not see any need for a change to legislation.....

Bracing for an onslaught of Poe jokes....
Did you hear the one about the Raven that.......?
Since this is Merry Old England, perhaps they're not allowed to own a BB gun anymore?
Why would anybody protect a buch of crows?
Hint:
If “the authorities” aren’t close enough to see the ravens slaughter your animals, they aren’t close enough to see you slaughter the ravens!
Happy hunting!!!
We lived in Juneau, Alaska for many years where they are quite common - once watched a Pine Grosbeak being devoured one strip of meat at a time by a huge Raven. There wasn’t anything left, not even a feather. Another time a squadron of Ravens stole every egg planted at a local park for an Easter egg hunt before the kids got a chance to start.
Britons need to return to their basic, decent origins and kill whatever protected species they deem fit. To hell with the King. Poaching, smuggling and other righteous occupations of the truly oppressed are the moral ancestors to the shoot, shovel and shut-up movement of today.
Have the farmers not heard of “The Three S’s”?
Shoot...shovel...shutup...
I told a clueless city dweller at work yesterday that I killed a skunk that had been devouring our chickens’ eggs in the barn.
Too which whe replied: “Why did you do that? Aren’t skunks an endagered species?”
I, for once, was slack-jawed and speechless. You just can’t make this stuff up.
They make themselves sound so important.
As I recall, one needs a government-issued license to own an air rifle in the U.K.
A daisy wouldn’t do much to a raven.
In the summer of 1972, I attended summer school at a private school in Scotland. The school was formed from the estate of a Scottish Laird (Sir Robert Gordon), and most of the buildings were quite old. There was a small chapel at the edge of campus, a long walk from any other of the campus buildings. The walkway was paved, and lined with big trees, which cast so much shade (in the already overcast Scottish summer) that the walkway was dark and gloomy. The chapel was small, built of stone, in a Gothic architectural style. The walkway was attended by a large number of ravens, who perched in the trees, and cackled at anyone walking by. About a dozen were always perched on the chapel roof, and they stared menacingly at anyone who walked to the chapel.
This was absolutely the spookiest place I’ve been....looked like a setting for one of those old Hammer vampire films. It sent chills up my spine. I was on campus for 4 weeks, but only went down to the chapel once.
Sir Robert, by the way, according to local legend, had sold his soul to the devil. He became a madman; there was a secret passageway under the manor house that ran to one of his stables. He locked his wife down there, and kept her there for years.
Shovels and shutting up are OK in Jolly Olde......
Keeping any kind of gun at home...including a handy little shotgun.....is illegal.
So, shooting is out of the question.
Dallas will go on a “killing” spree December 20th when the Ravens pay a visit to Texas Stadium.
I heard Tony’s taking a small vacation to be rested for the game. :-)
Just blow them away and dont tell PETA

So I guess they’d have to shutup about the gun as well...
