Typically incompetent and misleading media reporting.

MSFT is terminating sales of retail versions of XP
to resellers, but they are not “pulling” XP, or
fully dropping it - they can’t.

Blista won’t run on low-end PCs, so (OEM) XP remains
available for them, for years.

Enterprise buyers can still exercise “downgrade”
rights, buy Fista PCs, and install XP on them.

Copies of XP in the retail channel will remain for
sale. Doubtless many eBay speculators stocked up,
expecting bids to spike next week. Perhaps a few
mainstream resellers did likewise.

I’m planning to build a PC after the AMD 790GX
chipset is released, and lately bought a copy of
XP for that purpose.

With any luck, I’ll never run Vista. If some key
apps (esp. CAD) were available on Linux, I’d flush
all my MSFT code down my toilet.

You are on the money. XP will be around for some time. MS cannot abandon it.
