PHOENIX -- Officers dispatched to what they thought was a domestic disturbance Monday night discovered a lone Mesa man fighting with himself, authorities said.
Though the original call reported a verbal argument between a man and a woman, police said they found the 21-year-old man arguing with himself, changing the pitch of his voice as he acted out each part.
The man was also destroying the inside of the apartment, officers said. He broke the front window as officers tried to calm him down and coax him out of the home, according to authorities.
A crisis team decided the man was a danger to himself and obtained a mental health pick up order, police said. The Mesa SWAT team responded and took the subject into custody.

Oh hell...I do this all the time. It's usually about who takes out the garbage....in a one person household. I lose either way. Sometimes I flip a coin. I still lose.
My shrink says I have "I don't wanna" syndrome...Something from my youth.
He pays for my parking with a few coins if I take out his garbage (positive reinforcement.
Since I don't drive, I pocket the coins.
I now have $80,000 dollars of this dumb dudes money.

The Mesa SWAT team responded and took the subject into custody. Overkill? Since when was SWAT intended for "[what] thought was a domestic disturbance " ?
I guess it was a hostage situation.... reminds of the Cleavon Little scene from Blazing Saddles...

LOL! You are too funny.
Seriously, a couple years ago, I let a down and out nephew-divorce, etc. (couldn’t figure out why that MBA wasn’t doing him any good??)stay at my home.
He would have these kind of conversations in his room. Sounded like 2 or 3 different people...all of ‘em ticked off! Scared me to death! I didn’t have a clue how troubled this guy was. I got him out shortly after...it was not fun.
