Is there a ping list specifically for discussions and/or news concerning or related to C.S. Lewis?
Not to my knowledge, but there is a Lord of the Rings ping list, maintained by ecurbh, which certainly has a lot of Lewis fans on it. Perhaps ecurbh would be willing to do a ping for you to that list, to recruit members to your list. There is also The Hobbit Hole threads, maintained by HairoftheDog, which started for discussions of Tolkien, but is now generally chatty discussions of various subjects. If you get started, please put me on your Lewis ping list, my particular interests are the Perelandra trilogy, the Screwtape stories, and Lewis’s Christian apologetics.
Of course, there may be a more comprehensive or newer list out there that I'm not aware of.
The only Lewis list I am familiar with is the Narnia list. I don’t think it is active any longer.
That's odd. I got added recently to the Narnia list. Hm, let me look up who's taking care of that list.
Talk to DaveLoneRanger for the Narnia ping list.
A fan of Lewis’ Space Trilogy, I suppose?
I had no idea there was a Master List. It’s rather outdated
Thank you, Lucius, you’ve been very helpful.
I’ve never started a ping list; how do you begin one?
Like you, I enjoy Lewis’s Space Trilogy, The Screwtape Letters (You mention “screwtape stories; did Lewis write a sequel? As far as I know, there were only the ScrewTape Letters, which includes “ScrewTape Proposes a Toast”) and most of his apologetics; I have not yet read The Problem of Pain or Reflections on the Psalms. I also enjoy the Narnia books.
Do you like Lewis’ “Till We Have Faces”?
Thank you, Rabscuttle, I will do so.
Yes I am, Ikka. Are you a fan of Lewis’ Space Trilogy?
Never done it myself. Near as I can tell you go to a thread which would be appropriate for the Ping list, and announce the existence of the Ping list, asking for folks to post to you or freepmail you requesting to be put on or taken off the list. Be VERY quick to remove folks who request it, because if you don't you'll be banned for spamming. Also keep up with news about the subject of the list, nothing worse than a Ping List which doesn't keep its members updated.
There are lots of examples of this on many threads. Some have embedded code which allows folks to mash a button to add or remove list members, but that is beyond my skills.
I am a fan, having read it at least twice so far. In my opinion it is under-rated among Lewis’ works.
