Transcript: Book World: Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Author of 'Know Your Power'Same ol' same ol', just as expected...

Marietta, Georgia: Dear Madam Speaker,

Although this forum is primarily focused on your book, I cannot help but bring up an issue that is affecting each and every American. Why have the American people not seen energy legislation that lowers the price of gas?

Thank you

Nancy Pelosi: Now let's pivot from book questions to a topic many of you have raised: the high price of gasoline at the pump and what we can do about it.

Every American family is affected by the high price of oil and gas. It is our responsibility in Congress to protect the consumer and increase the domestic supply of energy. For the past 18 months, the Democrats in Congress have set forth an energy agenda. Some has been passed into law - and some has been blocked by the Republicans.

House Democrats have put forward 13 major proposals that would increase supply, reduce prices, protect consumers and transition America to a clean, renewable energy-independent future. Each time a majority of House Republicans have voted against these proposals.

Let me be very clear: drilling for oil in protected areas offshore will not bring down the price at the pump for 10 years - and then only 2 cents. To say otherwise is a hoax on the American people.

Here's what we can do:

1. Free Our Oil

We can have immediate price relief at the pump. Freeing our oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve will bring down the price of oil in 10 days. President Bush refuses to take this step for immediate relief.

10 years or 10 days - the choice is clear.

2. Use It or Lose It

Democrats passed the Drill Bill which says to Big Oil "Use or or lose it!" - drill in the 68 million acres in the lower 48 states or let someone else drill there. Also, "use it or lose it in Alaska. All of these areas have permits for drilling - and will produce oil sooner than drilling in protected areas offshore.

3. End Excessive Speculation Which Raises the Price of Oil

Democrats were part of a strong bipartisan vote was taken in the House but GOP leaders twisted arms to block passage.

4. Repeal the subsidies for Big Oil

With Big Oil making record profits, they do not need American taxpayers funding their drilling.

Instead we can invest in research, renewable energy, and tax credits for wind, solar and other renewables. This passed the House but failed in the Senate by one vote - John McCain was absent that day but said he would have voted no.

5. Increase Our Energy Supply With Increased Use of Natural Gas - a cleaner energy source.

There is immediate relief for the consumer - if only President Bush would free our oil.

What a crock! None of these will help increase supply or lower gas prices. Raping the SPR won’t increase supply enough or for long enough to effect the GLOBAL price of oil. Is she an idiot or does she think we are??

So, how many tons of carbon is this hypocrite's jet flushing into the atmosphere while she is flying all over the country promoting her book?

To answer your question NANCY PELOSI IS AN IDIOT! She is THE WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST, and thinks she is president already. She is third in line as Speaker of the House, and she bragged about that on THE VIEW. H

er ILLEGAL, TREASONOUS, DISGUSTING VISIT LAST YEAR TO CHAVES, IN VZ shows that she wants to buddy up with dictators. She is a dictator at heart. WE can only hope that her email is jammed, protests are in front of her home in DC area daily screaming to drill for oil, and that she is not reelected in Nov. Pelosi writes about power because she wants more of it. That woman is evil, evil, evil.

Two questions: 1. How on Earth did you find time to write a book while holding the title of Speaker of the House?

It's just amazing all you do for the country.

2. The subtitle of your book is "A Message to America's Daughters." Is this book specifically or solely for females? Or for daughters? Can I, as a male, read it and enjoy it?

No, you should just lean back and enjoy it.

Gawd, what twits this country has.

Her 5-point plan is a joke. I would love to debate this bitch on the Democrat versus Republican energy policy proposals. What she also fails to mention is that even some of her own Democrats voted against some of the proposals because they don't make sense. Consider her proposal to use the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. That would last 38 days--tops. Then what, Nancy? What if OPEC decided that would be a good time to pull another 1967 boycott in world markets. Nancy, you are an ignorant a$$ when it comes to energy. You also can't write a decent book, either. Perhaps it's time for you to hang it up.

That biatch is jetting around the country on a private jet, using up enough fuel daily to serve the needs of countless families struggling to pay for gasoline and food (thank you for that too, Congress). Maybe someone can do the math on that.

Limbaugh said a coast-to-coast trip in a corporate jet uses the equivalent amount of fuel to drive a Hummer (not known for it's gas mileage) AROUND THE WORLD. That's pro'ly 2-3 years of typical family driving.

Schnitt had his staff call SanFranNan's office and they said Doubleday is paying for her private jet transportation. No word, though, if her gubermint jet is having to follow her. That little factoid can slip through all but the tightest phrased queries.

What we do know is that she's jumping all over the country so I wonder how she squares this extravagant use of "carbon" with her "save the planet" stance for a freakin book tour.

"...Is she an idiot or does she think we are??"

She's a total dimwit, a total traitor, or more likely a stinky combination of the two, as are most 'bats.

She is a national disgrace, and an embarrassment to the American political system.

I also got a laugh out of this one:

Davenport, Iowa: What will it take to bring the troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan?

Nancy Pelosi: The only way we are going to bring our troops home honorably, safely and soon from Iraq and to strengthen efforts to rebuild Afghanistan is to elect Barack Obama President of the United States to take our country in a new direction. Our men and women in uniform have done everything we have asked of them - we must honor their service with better policies and with full support for our veterans.

So, we need to take our country from the direction of victory, just so we can have a new direction???

I have never read a work of fiction before.

Can anybody give a good summary on what to look for/expect if do buy a copy, or should I just save my hard-earned dollar for a precious necessity, like 4 gallons of unleaded gasoline?
