Grand Marshal named for Cup race at MIS: For the 43 drivers competing in the upcoming 3M Performance 400 Presented by Bondo at Michian International Speedway, their dream is to take home the checkered flag at the end of the day. But for 12-year-old Austin Irwin, who lives in Greenfield, MO, his dream is simply to attend the race and meet some of his NASCAR heroes. Irwin suffers from Wilm's Tumor, a tumor of the kidneys that strikes children more frequently than adults. Approximately 500 cases are diagnosed in the U.S. annually. It is highly responsive to treatment, with about 90% of patients surviving at least five years. During the race weekend, Irwin will meet Greg Biffle and Jeff Gordon, among other NASCAR stars, and deliver the "Gentlemen, start your engines" command for Sunday's race. He'll be joined by his parents and younger brother. Make-A-Wish could also be a winner at the 3M Performance 400 Presented by Bondo if Greg Biffle, driver of the #16 3M Ford, goes to Victory Lane. 3M and CARSTAR have pledged a $50,000 donation to Make-A-Wish in Biffle's name if he wins the race.

What else do you want to know...
glug glug glug .. Oh Hi..
what he’s won? this fine bottle ,glug glug, well what’s left of it. ;-)
It will be very interesting to see how these teams do next year. I think they will be running with Hendrick engines.
More power to ‘em! Just so they get ones like JJ and Flash, they should do fine.
That’s good news. Hopefully, Ryan Newman will have a more consistent car next year. Kurt Busch has been having a lot of equipment problems lately, seemingly making Newman’s point.
67.9 °F here.
Is it a hand blown bottle with a blob top and a pontil mark on the bottom?

The Southern 500 returns to Darlington.
I didn’t want to post a new thread but wanted to share the news.
Glad to hear it, I remember way back then, wow.. Good Job! Don’t break the treadmill. :-0
RETRO: The Southern 500 and retro paint schemes, such as this one sported this year by Travis Kvapil's No. 28 Ford, will return to Darlington in 2009.
DARLINGTON, S.C. Old and new traditions will unite during the 60th season of racing at Darlington Raceway when the Southern 500 name returns to the track Too Tough to Tame on Mothers Day weekend in 2009, track president Chris Browning announced today.
In 2009 the annual NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Darlington Raceway is sure to be an even bigger spectacle as the race will once again be known as the Southern 500.
Two of NASCARs toughest competitors, and former Darlington Raceway winners, are looking forward to once again gunning for a win in the Southern 500.
"When I think of Darlington and the history of the track, the Southern 500 is what comes to mind," said Jeff Gordon, driver of the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet. "I think it's great the Southern 500 is coming back to Darlington.
"I look forward to the opportunity of possibly winning a sixth Southern 500 during Darlington's 60th season of competition."
Winning the 50th Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway in 1999 was one of the highlights of my NASCAR career, said Jeff Burton, driver of the No. 31 AT&T Chevrolet. With so much history that surrounds Darlington Raceway, bringing the Southern 500 back on Mothers Day weekend in 2009 is going to make winning even more prestigious.
A track rich in tradition, Darlington Raceway ran the first Southern 500 on Sept. 4, 1950. Californian Johnny Mantz drove to victory that day after starting in the back of a 75-car field. The tradition continued for 54 years with Jimmie Johnson winning the last Southern 500 in 2004.
Beginning in 2005 a new tradition began at Darlington Raceway: Saturday night racing on Mothers Day weekend. Fans have turned out in full force to see the stars of NASCAR dance with the Lady in Black under the lights. The event has quickly become one of the most difficult tickets to get on the NASCAR schedule and has sold out for four consecutive years.
The Southern 500 is synonymous with Darlington Raceway, said Browning. Combining the tradition of the Southern 500 and Mothers Day weekend under the lights at Darlington is a real treat for NASCAR fans everywhere.
Ticket renewal orders are being accepted now for fans that purchased tickets to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event in 2008. For those fans who did not purchase tickets in 2008 but wish to do so in 2009 seat request orders are being taken to secure your spot in the grandstand of your choice. Tickets to the 2009 Southern 500, as well as the NASCAR Nationwide Series Diamond Hill Plywood 200 will go on-sale to the general public on Sept. 20.
Thank goodness I didn’t post it. Thanks
This air circulates across the valley floor to the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range where it is cleansed by the numerous blazing evergreen forest fires. The heavy smoke lifts the charred corpses of various toxic insects higher into the atmosphere which fall onto the Salt Flats between Eastern Nevada and Salt Lake City. These beautiful creatures then become the tasty salt grains that we put on our salads, and so on ........and so on
Thank goodness I didnt post it. Thanks
The reason I say that is you gave it the proper headline font and bold it required. I probably would not have done that.
I will take vacation to get that one in. Go Hambone!
Prayer Thread for Trueblackman
Is that why Jeff Gordon is on the cover of Webmd Magazine?
