Interestingly enough, temps at the summit as low as 17^o F., frost and snow (no accumulation) has been observed on Pico Duarte on Santo Domingo in Dec & Jan. While it'd not be an ideal place for a ski resort, I 'spose one coulds ski the skree slopes if one doesn't mind chewing their boards up.

I would like to climb Pico Duarte just to see the change in the vegetation. The strange thing is that even though it is the highest point in the Caribbean, little has been written about Pico Duarte.
