Not as yet, I honestly wasn’t aware that IE8 was ‘out there’ (prob because I’ve been using Firefox for years now, although I haven’t upgraded to FF3 yet).

Microsoft and Google at each other’s throats?

POPCORN PLEASE! LOL

I’d be surprised if Microsoft introduces any product that rivals anything or anyone anymore.

I primarily use Firefox, but still have occasion to launch IE most days. Have launched it today, but haven’t had any notification that a new version is available.

I’m looking at those images, and I’m not seeing any visual improvements. It looks the same as IE7.

Firefox and dogpile.
If I can avoid MS and Google, more power to me!

I have my PC set for auto updates and the new IE was on there as of Sunday, just started to use it so will not comment until i’ve used it awhile. I notice that when you tab in a search it brings up a whole line to choose from.

I use IE for little other than some radio stations and some video. Most all those media players are programmed for IE first, and there always seem to be a few around that won’t play on Firefox until some lagging plug-in is made available.

It’s ‘cuil’.
Search prior posts and you’ll find it.
Interesting results layout.

You’re welcome. If you’ve had a chance to check it out, I’d like to hear your thoughts. To be honest, I haven’t used it since that original post.

[several months later]

I had to switch printers at my old work area on Friday. Had to shut down before that, because deleting a print job doesn’t actually work (the print queue remains stuffed up, with the “deleted” job remaining, showing that is being deleted). When I started back up I needed a driver, the OS didn’t find it, but offered an “update” from MS, which turned out to be a malicious software remover (that’s really what it said) called Internet Explorer 8.

When I needed to go find and download the driver, guess what? Version 8 wouldn’t allow me to type in the Google search box — it was as if there wasn’t an input field there.

The little “livesearch” box in the upper right used — I’m sure you’ve guessed — Bing.

It’s just another one of those restraint-of-trade pimp jobs that would land the capos running that criminal enterprise in Redmond in prison, if there were justice.

IE 8? POS! Has a minor tendency to lock up when opening multiple tabs. Kill this instance (of IE with all open tabs), and it will kill all instances of IE8 running. Compatibility issues from Java apps. Speed, no different. Udderwise, it’s just perfect!
