Aw man. RIP, Don.
Bummer.
I especially enjoyed his Geico commercial.
It’s at the link. :)
It occurs to me that there are a number of people in the entertainment business whose work is on display practically everywhere yet only hardcore fans know who they are. This man was one of them. I bet that he has been heard by just about everyone in the English speaking world yet only a relative handful know who he is.
Condolences to his family and friends.
Frank Caliendo did a parody of The Three Tenors using Don LaFontaine’s voice to do movie Trailers.
That was hysterical! Probably sold a lot of insurance, too.
There are a couple of faux trailers out on YouTube that parody LaFontaine’s approach, the best one is “Glen and Gary and Glenn and Ross” based on “Glengarry Glenross.” Others I know of are “Must Love Jaws” and “Ten Things I Hate About Commandments.”
“In a world where one man dominated the field, a new voice will need to be found. The hunt is ON.” < /LaFontaine voiceover voice >
