I know this is probably a dumb question but, why did Arizona pass on the roll call of states?

Conflict of interest? or what

According to FOX, they passed the first time so they could put him over the top at the end.

Here it comes right now, in fact.

The other states are passing, so that when it comes back around to Arizona, they will put McCain over the top.

Possibly to be the state that officially nominates McCain

Not a dumb question at all. They passed so they could actually give him the final winning delegations and announce he is the candidate.

As one of the last states to be admitted to the union, Arizona does not enjoy the full rights and privileges accorded to most of the other states.

The candidate’s home state always does that. It gives them the “honor” to put him over the top.

I believe they run through the states the first time and any state that “passes” during the first roll call get a second chance. By doing this it allowed Arizona to be the state to put McCain over the 1191 needed votes.

They let the territories vote but the skipped 7 of the 57 states. :-(

It is a tradisi0on to have states pass in a certain order to allow the candidate's home state the honor of "putting them over the top".

Both parties do it.
